Can anyone help me with a problem?  I am 5 months out from Lapband surgery, and I have recently had my 2nd fill.  I have started having severe hiccups after eating only a few bites.  Also, I have started having severe pain between my breasts which eminates up my esophagus.  This pain lasts about 10 seconds.  This pain comes after I have eaten about 5 bites, not even 3 ounces.  Is this normal?  What causes this?    Thanks for any input.     Barbara

For anyone reading this, the picture is of my daughter, Jill, who had gastric bypass.  I had the Lapband.  I don't know how Jill's picture got with my question.  On well...    Barbara

I can't speak for the lap band, but I can for the picture.  You are signed in as Jill rather than you.  You can click  "sign out" at the upper right corner of the page.  Then sign back in as you, then your picture will post instead of hers. Take care. Ellen

Own it all, it's yours!

Under the picture it says you had the fobi pouch, which is not the lap-band. So am I taking that is your daughter? Maybe? :-) As for your fill it sounds like you could be eating too fast. What is your fill level? What did you from and to? Like were you at 1cc and went to 2 cc's? From my exp when that happens to me I have personally just eaten to fast. It kind of knocks you down and says hello why did you get me. haha.  You might also want to try some warm liquids to help calm the throat/esophagus. That has worked for me in the past. Good Luck and I hope this helps you some.

I agree with the above.......slow down a little and give it time.  When I had my second fill I was SURE that I was wayy too tight and even contemplated going for a slight unfill....everything I ate I threw up for almost 2 weeks.......I only ate very little and soft things.  Eventually it has become a lot better and I'm glad I didn't go for a unfill.  I think I have this in my profile.  You should call them and  verify that all is ok, but it SOUNDS like what I had going on- but don't rely on this.  They're the pro's.  As far as my esophagus, it was virtually raw from throwing up, and with being so tight untill almost one 1pm, the only thing I could get down was hot tea- that soothed and went down nicely.  Also, are you drinking cold things?  Cold contracts- try warm and see how that does.  Hope this helps! HIJACK!!!

Wow Nancy! I just saw your ticker and noticed that your BMI is 29!!! Congratulations! You have done such a marvelous job with your band. You should be so very proud of yourself.
