Quickly approaching....

Went today to Pitt Memorial's "patient testing center" for preop hospital tests (xray, bloodwork, EKG, etc) and to get registered.  This fairly new center is suppose to streamline things and make your wait time much less.  I was there for almost 4 hours...with an appointment!  I didn't mind though, it feels good to finally be close enough to my date to start doing these things.   I'm starting to get the "Oh my gosh, this is really gonna happen" feelings.  I'm swamped at work right up until two days prior to surgery so that has done alot to keep my mind off of it.  Well, I'll go now, arm is still kind of hurting, nurse stuck me THREE times to get blood today!

Congratulations as you quickly approach your day. I know you are excited and am sure that it is a great help to have your wife as a partner in this journey. I know it will help tremendously for sure. Keep us posted!  Lisa

Congratulations - I'm jealous. I'm still doing my 6 month insurance stuff. Dr. Mac's office called yesterday to schedule my 2nd endoscope for April 16th. The first one revealed a "nasty" ulcer that I didn't know I had. He put me on meds and hopefully things will have cleared up so there will be nothing slowing me down when we submit everything to insurance. I'm so excited. Your date's going to be here before you know it.  Good Luck. -Iris

Iris, Powell's Point!?  That's quite a drive, I hope you haven't had to do much running back and forth to Greenville.  Best of luck to you!   What time frame are you shooting for?

I've had to do my psych eval, endoscope & nut visits in greenville. My 6 month PCP supervised thing is at home and I got my cardiac clearance with a doc where I'm at. I'm much closer to the Docs in VirginiaBeach and I first looked into surgery there but I didn't feel it.. I'd really just sorta pushed it to the back of my mind (in case I ever got diabetes or any other co-morbidities). Lo and behold the blood sugar creeped up last summer. I ran into a friend for Weigh****chers who had had the surgery and she looked amazing. When we talked about it she didn't stop until she had given me Dr. Mac's name and number. She'd had the same feeling at the other doc's that were closer by as well.  It's 140 miles one way for me to get to Southern Surgical. But it's so worth it.  - Iris
