Struggling

This is my first time posting and seeing your post.  However, I was given lyrica for my chronic pain, which truely does suck big time.  The lyrica data did indicate it could create an increased appetite and weight gain.  I only took it for about 1 month faithfully.  I had been given it on and off for my neck and shoulder last year but this was the first time I was prescribed it for 30 days.  I know I was eating more and being RNY any fear of weight gain freaks me out.  I hope you can find the cause of the problems your having and begin to feel better.  I know your freaking out because we work so hard to loose this weight and we don't want to let anything make us gain.  I hope the lab results turn out to be nothing significant.   Take Care, Jennifer

Welcome to the boards!  Thank you so much for posting.  You're the first person I've heard from who's tried Lyrica.  What do you use for pain now that you've gone off Lyrica? I read some arthritis and fibromalgia forums when my doctor suggested Lyrica, and a number of people mentioned the increased appetite and weight gain.  I decided to give Lyrica a try because Vicodin and other painkillers just weren't hitting it correctly.   Now that I'm on a therapeutic dosage (150 mg twice a day), I can tell the difference.  I'm not completely pain-free, but things have definitely improved.  It's a a trade-off ...   But a tough decision to stay with Lyrica, precisely because of what you've said. I trust things will even out over time.  As Barb said, it's not really possible to continue to gain "real" weight at the calorie level I'm at.  Eventually the scale will have to move down, right????  But you really hit the nail on the head when you wrote about freaking out.  I've spent so much time and resource and am very motivated to make my Lap Band work, and it's scary to step on the scale and see it going in the wrong direction.  The people here at the OH board help me keep things together.
