Questions about my appt. tomorrow.

Tomorrow is my first appt. with the nut (I would have thought this would have been the name for the Psych. eval, but I guess not...LOL).  I think I heard the woman on the phone say it was a "group' appt.  Does anyone know why I would be having an appt. with other people?  Then she said, "oh, and don't forget your $100."  LOL

That's the way they do it at a lot of places. They meet with many that are getting ready to have surgery and tell you how you will be eating after surgery. That's the way my follow-up with the NUT was as well. anyhow, best of luck tomorrow.  Lisa

At Duke they also do this in group sessions.  They also have the follow up psych meetings in a group after you have your first eval... I think if you wanted to meet with them privately you could set something up. Only $100... i think you got off easy!

Your first appointment will be with 2 or 3 other but then the appointments following surgery will be one on one. The appointments are very informative.

Maybe I did get off easy and I don't even realize it...I have to pay the other $400 over the next couple of months.

My first appointment with the (same) Nut (Diane) was with 2 other lapband people.  It is very informative.  She gives you a handout that lists the 2 week liquid diet for immediately after surgery (same for RNY and Lapband).  It also has a lot of protein shake recipes.  She'll also tell you to start taking Biotin (5000 mcg) now to prevent hairloss.  I think she gives you a diet too (can't remember exactly when I got this, but I think it was at this appointment).  You'll need to make sure you don't gain any weight between your Dr. appointment and your day of surgery.  I don't know about Dr. Pirrello, but Dr. Bauman will not do the surgery if you gain.  Dr. B is VERY strict.  I followed the diet plan they gave me 2 weeks pre-op and lost 9 lbs.  And yes, it's $100.00 for the first appointment - whether you have surgery or not.  After you are approved for surgery, it'll be another $400.00 that you can pay in $100.00 monthly installments.  If you're not approved and don't end up having surgery, you do not have to pay the remaining $400.00.

(includes 9 lbs lost on 2 week pre-op diet)
AP Standard band - 1st fill 2/07/08 1cc, 2nd fill 4/07/08 1cc, 3rd fill 6/09/08 1 cc, 4th fill 8/04/08 .3 cc, 5th fill 11/05/08 .15 cc - total 5.05 cc in a 10 cc band
