Don't you worry!!!! I was told the same thing a few months ago and was soooo nervous. I have HepC and my liver #'s have been funky during the last year. I had to see a Heptatic specialist who informed me that my liver will quite possible get worse the first few months out but by 6 months out will start repairing itself and I will be better off for it by far. Plus if I have to have interferon treatments  they are much more effective on people not morbidly obese. He wrote a letter to my surgeon suggesting the bypass and well my surgery date is in less than a week :-) So good luck and keep that chin up!!!

Wow - I complete 48 weeks of interferon/ribavirin treatment and have been clear for almost 5 years now.  My liver should be in good shape.  I go back to see Dr. Naziri on the 28th - will keep you posted.  Good luck with your surgery!  Take care, Lizzie
