I am 4 days out from surgery,  I cannot tolerate any of the clear liquid proteins.  I am so nausous from trying them.  Water is the only thing I can handle, and even that makes me feel ilk. I've been taking my flinstone vitamin just fine.  Sugar free ice pops are okay, but getting old. I feel like if I just throw up it will be all better. I feel light headed and dizzy when i try to walk around, which I have been doing every hour or so.  Sleeping is my only relief. I have no other pain other than wanting to hurl.  But man is it uncomfortable. Any sugegstions.

Hi Jen,

I'm so sorry that you are soooo uncomfortable. I have to say that this too shall pass. It is hard, but it gets better. I could just sip a bit at a time. I found that Crystal light worked best for me. I nearly gagged down the "Boost" or "Ensure" ... I tried carnation instant breakfast, but didn't have much luck with that either. I didn't like the protien drinks, but I just put one foot in front of the other. The day that I was able to switch to a soft diet was fabulous! I still had a learning curve and challenges, but honestly it got much better from there on out. I know it's hard, but it's just a finite period of time that you do this as your pouch heals.

Hang in there,

Barb

I feel for you...I had surgery december 2005 and was soooooo sick they kept me in the hospital for 5 days....It was HORRIBLE....Don't force yourself to try different things...just take what you know you can right now....but take it as often as possible...be it sugar free ice pops...etc....mine passed at about day 7 ....or so.....but it passed....to the point I wasn't sick every minute....just a few times per day...then it went away completely.....I promise it gets better....hang in there...

I agree that it does pass and before too long you will feel so much better! It is just a matter of time and healing! Don't try and rush things along. Try to get your fluids in so you don't dehydrate though. Hope this will pass soon. Did they give you any meds for nausea? Lisa

So sorry you are having a rough time. We all hated the protein. I have found one I like now and I drink it everyday even though I don,t have to. It is Maximum Protein from GNC. It is more expensive then some, but I have tried all three flavors and like it a lot. They have samples of it at most GNCs.  Chocolate tasted like good chocolate milk. Vanilla I use to make ice frappchinos......strawberry makes the yummiest milk shake. Be sure and ge****er in and search for that GOOD protein shake. It will get better...very soon. Good luck and God Bless Myrtis
