Hi Everyone, I was just wondering.... when did those who lost hair after thier surgery start noticing it? I am about a month out ...and I expect to be one who experiences hair loss , since I did after other surgeries. Just wondering when you started noticing it and how long it lasted?              Thanks, Sandra

I started losing mine at about 3 months.  I am almost 10 months out and it has mostly grown back in.  It got pretty bad at about 6 months.  I started taking Biotin at about 4 months and it has helped tremendously.  I also used Nioxin hair products which is suppose to help with hair growth.  My hair is coming back gray and very wirey with a little curl.

I am now 5 months out and have really noticed my hair falling out the past 2 weeks.  I have read in several places that say 3 - 9 months is when this is most common.  I also read to be gentle with your hair.  I know you are tired of hearing it, but PROTEIN is the best answer.  I did good on my protein at first, then got tired of it and went slack.  I think that is why mine didn't fall out during the third month.  But, now when I wash my hair and comb it, I lose quite a bit.  Good luck!

typically when one has hair loss its from what happened approx 3 months earlier - so to answer your question most experience it starting 3 months out.  As for how long it will last - getting in your protein, supps, vits will help... I also feel getting in the majority of your protein from food helps it slow down/stop even more than if you rely heavily on suppliments.  Mine started around 3 months out and stopped by 5.... I lost hardly any hair thou - I describe it as 'more than usual' but nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the info everyone. It sure helps just to know what to expect. I am still having alot of trouble getting in enough protein. It seems like here at almost amonth out that everything has a yuk factor to me. ...I can eat it once then it seems like if I try it again soon after it is sickening. The things that DON'T make me feel sick that I can eat on a regular basis, would take eating alot more than I could hold in a days' time to get in my 60 grm of protein a day. Hopefully thie sickly feeling will pass...until then it  will probably be a struggle.   Hugs, Sandra

I started noticing it about 3 months out.  It peaked around 5 months, and was mostly done by 6 months.  Around the 5 month anniversary it was freaking me out, but just about the time I thought I was going to lose it all, it just stopped.  I am a year and a month out now and have 2 inch fuzzy hair growing back in all over my head.  It's a pain, and I hate the way it looks, but I would do it again in a heart beat.  I will accept the collateral damage in favor of the 240 pounds gone. Remember this though, what you do now will affect your hair loss in the coming months.  Get in your protein where you can and consider Biotin (I take 5000 mcg).  Do your research and see what levels you are comfortable with. Take care and good luck. Ellen

Own it all, it's yours!
