X-POST: Stop Smoling Hell
I have been cutting back on my cigs until I got down to 3-a-day. I am now barely smoke-free. I say barely because I could eat one today. If you've ever quit smoking I'm sure you understand what I feel like today. Even with the Chantix I'm about to crawl out of my skin. I don't know whether to scream, bite someone's head off, or go to bed and cry. The minuet logical part of my brain knows that this too will pass, but the anxiety and cravings are really overpowering that logic. I'm almost an evil basket case...
and of all days I have to drive my mom, dad, and aunt to see the new baby. Heaven help me! I know I have to quit in order to have my surgery. That is the only thing that is stopping me from buying a pack and lighting up.
Please keep me in your thoughts and payers.

Hugs! Donna L (finding_me) - I just know I'm here somewhere...

Hey Donna:
I am there with ya...quit smoking for surgery and stupid enough to take it up again after my surgery. As soon as my thyroid is regulated gonna quit again. One thing to do is take a walk and walk off that anxiety...preferably before you pick up your mom and aunt. That always seemed to help when i was going through the withdrawal. Take care!!

I quit back in 1993 when I was 20 years old.. it was not too tough for me because I simply started eating myself to death. LOL I just went from one addition to the other.
Hand in there girl.. I know it is tough. I have days like that with food. I want ti so badly.. but cannot have it. It is worth it all. Just go take a nice long nap or walk. Try to channel that frustration in a more positive manner. :)

I know how very difficult it is...I smoked 2 packs per day for 17 years and then when I found out I was pregant on 7/17/03 I never picked up another one...only because I didn't want anyone else raising my baby. I had severe asthma and was so addicted that I would use my inhaler just so I had enough breath to smoke...Isn't that sick?
I still think about it everyday and then I look at my boys and know I'll never do it again...but I'm not one of those ex-smokers who preaches about not smoking...As a matter of fact, if there is a crowd outside the mall smoking, I walk right through it as I take a deep breath...LOL
I'll say a prayer for you and try to think of it this way...you want to have WLS to get healthy and live a longer life. Could you imagine getting to where you want to be and being diagnosed with lung cancer in 5 years and never living out your dreams? I try to think about like that every day!!!
