Help!!
I wish I could help you but if I were you I would check out the info on this site for both RNY and lap and you will have to weigh the pros and cons.
It really is a personal choice.
Personally I LOVE MY RNY and I would do it again in a minute.
I always tell people no matter what wls you choose you have to want it more than anything you have ever wanted in your life and be prepared to follow your doctors instructions.
You will never be able to eat like you have in your past and must be willing to accept the changes.

I think that Annie and Shelli have reallly covered all of the bases. Both are good, viable options. If you have the opportunity to go talk to people that have done both, it might help. I'd also go to several seminars and talk to surgeons who have done each and get their perspectives.
Wishing you success in whichever choice you make.

P.S. I was originally thinking about the lapband because of it's safety rating, lack of issues with malabsorption and dumping ... and 'reversability.' I decided to go with the RNY because I have an unrelated condition that actually benefited from the iron malabsorption and at the time there were studies showing RNY had a high incidence of Reversal of diabetes. I have been fortunate the malabsorption has worked for me and controlled my iron overload, my diabetes is reversed and I do not have significant or bothersome dumping issues. I'm happy with my choice, but I think that lapband is a strong, significant choice that should be strongly considered.
