Can't sleep and in some pain!

I have not really had any pain with my RNY.  My right side has been tender, more like a pulled muscle and really only hurt when I turned over in bed.  Today, that side has become very 'touchy.'  I am not sure if I did something to aggravate it or not. My incisions look good and I have no fever or anything else. Just the tender side and a pain just below my right shoulder blade that WILL NOT go away!  It feels like it is muscular or that my back needs to 'pop' if that makes sense.  It could be some left over gas that has just found a nice little home....:)  Or maybe it is just the fact that I can't 'lay' the way I normally do in bed and that has gotten things 'out of wack.'   And, since my surgery, I CANNOT sleep.  I mean, AT ALL.  I will lay down about 11 or so and then sleep until maybe 12:30 or 1.  Then, I get up, grab a SF popsicle and come to the living room.  I suck on the popsicle and then I can catch about another hour or so in the recliner.  I don't know what to do!! Even the pain meds, which have always knocked me for a loop don't make me sleep. And, the thing is I really WANT to sleep!  I used to take Melatonin (a natural supplement that regulates the sleep cycle) but I am not sure if that has anything to do with this or not.  The night after I surgery, I barely slept AT ALL.  I was restless and frustrated. This is not good for me, since I have 3 kids...one of them a toddler...I NEED to sleep!  And, what about when school starts back?  I can't stay up all night and teach all day!  Has anyone else experienced insomnia after RNY???   My back sort of just popped and feels some better, so I think that may be a muscular issue...maybe because I have not been wearing a bra a lot at home since it irritates one of my incisions.  I did go out and do  a lot today, so I guess all of the climbing in and out of my Expedition could have some bearing on my side....anyway, thanks for listening!  <3 Beth

I don't have any suggestions, but wanted to send my thoughts. James has had some problems with laying the bed and just recently started sleeping there again. it is still somewhat uncomfortable, but he's said it's getting better.  His surgery was two weeks ago Thursday. Try the benadryl as Shelly suggested or maybe a half dose of Nyquil? That stuff worked when i was sick and knocked me out like it never has before. Of course, check with the doc to make sure, but i think it was ok for me. Either way, I hope this gets better and you can get some rest! Keep us posted!
