I just join this message board today and I don't know anyone yet. I would like to meet some new friends on this board. I had my surgery on Jun4 in Raleigh NC I had the lap band.   Help me to learn how to live with it. Thanks Tonia

Hi! Congrats on your band.  I was just banded on 6/10.  How are things going with the band?  Any major issues? Amanda

It's going really well but why do I want to eat again. I'm walking everyday and drinking water but I don't think I'm eating as good as I should. What kind of food are you eating?

Ditto to everything else plus! There's a meetup that our wonderful Barb hosts each month in Raleigh.  You must come!  It's important.  'Cause, well.. it is. No seriously, if you want help to learn to live with the band, then support is the best thing you can do.  Those who get support in person (rather than just a board.. nothing against boards) tend to do much better in the long term.  I'm walking proof of this, really. So welcome aboard.  I know *nothing* of the band, but would be glad to help in anyway I can.

Hi Tonia,

First, let me congratulate you on starting the journey of a lifetime. I know that Dr. Moran has a support group, but I also host one once a month in Raleigh ... Check the post above to get the details. We meet the 3rd Saturday morning of each month. We just had to change venues because we are growing to be a pretty big group. That's a good thing. Statistics shows that those who actively attend support group meetings are much more successful at attaining and maintaining their weightloss. Our group has members that have had had or are considering any type of WLS surgery. Some haven't had it yet, some or newbies like yourself, some of us are a year or so out and some are several years post op. We have members that have had different types of surgery and the LapBand is represented. While each surgery does have some journey specific issues, we find that we have more in common than you might think. Everyone is friendly and supportive. If you are interested in more information about the group you can sign up at my site at http://wls.meetup.com/101

Welcome to the loser's bench!

Barb
