OT ...I'm in NYC w/my daughter Sarah

Hi All,

As many of you know, my daughter Sarah underwent major reconstructive surgery to correct a birth defect about 6 weeks ago. We are back in NYC for a follow-up appointment to check on her progress. She is healing well and has been working hard to develop both strength and range of motion. All of her hard work is paying off. I'm absolutely delighted to report that she has been freed from her brace and crutches! You also may recall that my son is getting married in September. It looks like she will be able to walk down the aisle unassisted and she's delighted. It also looks like she'll be able to go white water rafting with her cousin this summer. She's soooooo excited and I'm excited for her. We will need to come back up for another follow-up appointment in 2 months. In the mean time she will continue heavy PT to continue to work on rebuilding the strength in her leg and gain as much flexibility as possible.

That is great Barb!  I just sent you an email yesterday to ask how she was doing.  She has to be so proud of the progress she has made and the work and pain she has had to endure.   That is such great news!

Barb,  I did not know that your daughter underwent surgery but I am so glad to hear now that she is doing well and making such great strides.  :)  Hope you have some time to enjoy your time in New York!

Thank your for your well wishes. It's be a far more restful trip than the last. We were able to get a bit of shopping in ... I didn't do clothes, but she did and I got a mini make-up make over at Saks. What fun!

Last night we had dinner at Justin Timberlake's "Southern Hospitality" ... I know my daughter was secretly hoping to have him pop in; he didn't, but the food was wonderful.

oh Barb that is wonderful news. You must be so proud to have such a strong willed daughter. I cant wait to see those wedding pics in september. Please tell Sarah i think she is wonderful !!!

I'll pass it on. Sarah often comes to our monthly support group meetings and sometimes lurks a bit, so she actually does know who I'm talking about when I say that 'so and so says congrats' ... I know she'll appreciate it.
