Glad your first day went well!  I'm up early as usual getting ready for work.  That's pretty much all that's on my schedule for the day.

I'm going to try to get out after dinner tonight for a walk.  Still struggling with getting exercise in with this new busy schedule.

Hi all,

Well went through my first day of work and it was fun.  I don't think I would like to do this every day so I think that part time is ok.

Today is study.  Tonight I go to a church meeting on getting involved in the worship and arts department.  I need to get out and get connected.

What are you up to?

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

Hi,

A lot has to do with lack of knowledge, fear and concern for you.  People who don't know enough about weight loss surgery tend to act like this.  And, of course, those who have felt that the surgery has failed them, will let you know.  You kind of have to sift through all this and see where they are coming from.  Yea, it can be frustrating, but hang in there.

Heather,

I am assuming by your glowing review of the Tryon Rd Lifetime Fitness that you have been over there. It sounds, from your description, like a good place to go.

Would you be interested in meeting up sometime and getting to know each other a bit and seeing if we can work out some sort of schedule that could work for us? I do not work during the day, so most of my days are free thus I could be open to anything. We could work up the nerve to check out those membership prices together. ;)

If you want to contact me directly please feel free, my email is [email protected]
I would really love to work something out so we can do something together to motivate each other.

All my best,
Chelsea

Thanks, it will still be closer than driving all the way to Durham. My friend is seeing Dr. Yoo, so I'm going to try to get a follow up there. Not sure if I need to see him or if I will see a assistant. Thanks for the information.

I had my surgery at Duke Raleigh, and like you said...follow-ups are with the surgeons assistant.  I like the Raleigh office as well.  They are moving a little further down Wake Forest Road, if they haven't already moved last week.  So, just a heads up that they will no longer be located on the campus of the hospital!

 Hi Chelsea!

I'm in Cary also, and have been looking for a place too.  I'd love to do Lifetime Fitness over off of Tryon.  It's got indoor and outdoor pools, their locker rooms are beautiful and not at all that gross gym feeling.  It's huge, so you don't feel like people are staring at you (at least I don't).  I haven't gotten up the nerve to check their prices yet.  lol

Our subdivision does not have a pool, so if I factor in a price of a family pool membership for just the summer I'm sure Lifetime isn't so bad.  However, the Y is probably cheaper.  I'm just not into the Y from my visit there.

I also think it would be easier with a "buddy"....and since my husband is busy working and we have a little one our evenings are busy.  Maybe we could hook-up and threaten each other to move around!

Cheers!
Heather

I know, it is troubling how a lot of people have negative reactions when they find out you're going to have the surgery...so much so that it's refreshing when you find someone who is actually excited for you when you tell them.
And of course, it's always hours after you talk with the "Negative Nancy's" that you think of something clever to say.  Like, "Why would they continue to perform the surgery if it's never successful?"  People who are saying things like that need to EDUCATE him/herself before trying to "educate" us.  Maybe that's what we need to say to them...how much have YOU read up on it?  If you read up on it, you'll find out that , yes, you can put the weight back on IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW YOUR DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS.   Many people don't realize it's just a "tool" to help get you started, it does not solve all your problems or keep you from gaining weight after the first couple of years after your stomach pouch stretches some.  If people continue their bad eating habits, then "DUH?!?" they're going to gain their weight back.  Tell your "friend" that you have done the research and you are going to follow your doctor's instructions!

Odd to say, but I think some people are actually jealous when they hear it, too...bec/ they know we're going to look good after we have it...albeit a few months down the road after the surgery...(maybe even better than them!)
