The support group meets tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Mission Weight Management building. I think they meet the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 6 p.m., as well as the third (or fourth?) Friday at 10 a.m. The meeting usually has a particular topic to be discussed.  I would also suggest calling and signing up to attend one of their free information meetings. I think they have those one or two times per month. You can probably get most of your questions answered there.

I can't go to thesupport group tomorrow, but let me know if you go to the next one so I can say hi! :)

Topic: did my online seminar.
I completed my online seminar at Duke on Friday. I got a call today that the lady who does the insurance stuff is out so it will take them a week to verify and put all my info in their system. What does all this mean? What can I expect? What has everyone's experience with Duke been like?

Thanks. Sorry for all the questions:-)

I'm new here (well...back after researching a few years ago too...)  & would love to know more about the Asheville support group mentioned.  I am still in the research stage & trying to decide which Dr./group to use.  Any help appreciated!

Thank you, I think I'll pass the information along. Like I said, it's a great program but ridiculous trying to get a return call.

I'm going out of town tomorrow for about a week. I hope this is a better visit for me. I am going to the gym soon and come home to pack up.

Good news (I think) to report today. I applied for another sales job (part time) and was invited to start the hiring process today. I haven't accepted the job yet, since I still need more details. BUT this sounds like a good part time/home office type job. I'm going to keep my other job, but I sure hope this other one will help me out for the next couple of year.

I'm not much of a exerciser at all but I have made myself get out and walk when I take the kids to their after school activities. Once I get out there and get started, I'm usually ok. I just have to get passed all of the excuses I make not to do it. LOL

I also had a hard time getting a response from Duke. I didn't even get to meet my surgeon until I asked for him at the apt right before surgery. I was told that they were very busy and did the best they could. However, my friend is going through the Duke process in Raleigh and she has had no problems. She is having the surgery in Durham but her process has been smooth sailing and really quick. They told her they could have her ready for surgery in 6 weeks where it took several months for me. See if your friend wants to check out Raleigh/Duke.

Don't get me wrong, I had a great no a fantastic surgery!!!! I had no problems at all (knock on wood). However, I remember when I was walking through my journey to surgery I had the worst time getting a return call from the people at Duke. Dr Pryor was wonderful and the staff was great when I was there for an appointment, however, to get a return call was like pulling teeth!!!
The reason I bring this up is, I recommended Duke to a friend of mine. She told me she waited approx a month for her first call (which she expected) to set up an appointment. Unfortunately, she was not at home when the call came in and had to return the call. Well, she told me that she has left 5 messages and no one has called back. She told me that she was very frustrated. I let her know what I went through hoping that she understood that it wasn't just her. I just can't understand how Duke allows this to happen. I heard about this prior to my surgery and went through it myself and now my friend is going through it. What gives?

Topic: RE: Exercise...

I wear a pedometer and work on racking up at least 10K steps daily, so I guess I do count whatever movement I incur, that said, moving enough to get your heart rate up is a 'different' type of exercise than 'just moving' and I work on that too.

I think that you are right about getting out and walking when you start craving something. Thanks for sharing that tip.
