Safe travels to VA. Hope you get to have some fun!!

I don't have Tricare but I know I was borderline and was approved. I think they base it on BMI too. So the insurance doesn't cover bypass surgery of any kind? Or was this your doctor that said this?
Can't believe I slept in! Oh well, had a relaxing evening last night. Today is recycling, vet, pack for trip. I keep forgetting I'm heading up to VA this evening. It will be a short but quick get away.
I will not be doing roll call while away so will pick it up again on Monday.
(((((Alice))))),
It's been a long time my friend and it amazes me at just how parallel our lives seem to run. Like you, I lost my mother this past year, along with the losses of my father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ben's job and our home, so I really empathize and sympathize with the challenges you have been dealing with this past year. Like you, we have also celebrated the blessing of our children's weddings, but not beautiful grandchildren yet ;-)... She sure is a beauty!
At any rate, while I understand your distress at your 10 lb gain, I think it's not so much the weight as the fact that it wasn't planned gain, but gain that occurs with stress. All of that said, it sounds to me like you have a plan and are working it. I did the same thing and was able to take off the extra pounds I found. I'm confident that as you start focusing on taking care of you, you will too because we still have those tools.
I recently had a large symposium in Raleigh drawing people from your neck of the woods. I've been asked if we had any support groups in the area, but I'm not sure if you still host any of them anymore or if anyone else has taken up the mantle there. There does seem to be interest, so let me know if you think having bi-monthly meetings in your area might be worth trying again or not.
I've missed you and look forward to seeing you now and again my friend.
All the best,
Barbara

FYI....the NC driver's test is HARD! I actually had to study to pass....I have lived in several other states but NC is a harder test (in KY I didnt even have to take a written test again). Good luck at the new job.....

This morning I speak with my boss for the first time. We will get last minute paperwork done, figure out my work schedule etc. After that, I have to find a few polo type shirts and a fanny pack (where do I find that?). We have no lockers or anyplace to put things on the job. I also need to go to DMV and get my license changed to NC. We have been putting it off due to many things.
Well, yesterday, I did not get much studying done. I got involved in more unpacking, which was good but I am so far behind. I have to get Level 4 done and get started on Level 5. I have to get this class done soon.
What's on your agenda?
Welcome to OH! I'm not sure who your insurance carrier is, but BCBSNC just began covering the sleeve in July '11. Best of luck on your journey!!

Timed my walk- total of 36 minutes each time and I do it twice a day.
Not having any issues getting liquids in and my protein levels are still low but I have been upping them slowly each day.
I got a nasty email from a member on here who had a totally different surgery and he/she said I should be ashamed because now I have no Pyloric Valve. LOL hated to inform the person but yes I still do- there is a pyloric valve at the top and one at the bottm, I know because I asked my surgeon and his partner about this. So yea, if they want to be nasty that way- HELLO block and ignore.
I am really beginning to dislike Chicken broth and beef broth- HECK any kind of broth and found otu today that I should have been on purees when I left the hospital- LOL and I have been doing FULL liquids. YIPES. It is ok though, I am thinking about going and getting something here in a bit that I can either puree or chew really easily that becomes a pureed consistency. We will see. I go on softs on Monday- YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Well off for now, gunna go finish washing these windows swags, they needed it.
