Agreed!! I took my first walk of the day this morning (might not be another one today, so it may just be the walk fo the day, lol) and I saw a few signs that told me that fall is well on it's way here. Squirrels were not sitting there eating the stuff they had scrounged BUT were packing it in their faces and heading up into the trees. A friend of ours up the street is almost always the first person to sit her resin pumpkins out and she was doing that this morning. WE had a discussion about my front steps and if she thinks mums or resin pumpkins would be good this year- big surprise, she said BOTH. LOL it is the same discussion each year and always the same answer but we still have it. SHe was also pulling out her candle equipment from her shed. She makes fall and winter scents and hopefully this year I can get up to her house for her fall party to buy some of both types from her before she sells them all. Finished my walk (actually extended it out by 2 football field lengths) with a queasy feeling which I attributed to me not having had my protein shake. Had my shake and all was right with the world.
Did dishes. FIxed hubby his pizza which he has been hinting about for a few WEEKS and he was one happy stuffed puppy when he got done (psst I used a gluten free mix for the crust and he didn't know the diff).
The sister who decided to abandon me during my surgery ;left another txt msg today asking if I was still mad or upset- i responded with PLEASE QUIT ASKING THAT QUESTION and ask how I am...... there has been no response. Not surprised really.
Here in a bit we are heading to his mom's to take out some yard waste cans (well he is moving them, I aint allowed to) and then take some movies back to blockbuster kiosk thing.

Topic: Mindfulness

I have found that being 'mindful' has proven to be a powerful tool too help me take care of myself. It requires me to be focused and present. It also helps me be aware and accountable. I am not always as 'mindful' as I'd like to be, but more so now than I was before I had my WLS.

To me, being 'mindful' means that I am aware of what I'm doing and accountable to myself for my actions. Everyone needs to find their own ways of doing this, but I think that we all need to do this in order to be successful in the long term.

*  Being mindful mean I get on the scale daily so that I am aware of my weight and am able to make corrections when they are still minor.
*  Being mindful means logging my intake and activity if I notice that my scales are 'swinging' more than the 7 lb range that seems normal for my body -- basically, up or down 3 lbs from my 'sweet spot'.
*  Being mindful means thinking about what I'm eating and if it is something that 'fuels' my body.
*  Being mindful means leveraging my tool and 'taking care of business first', so that I start my meal with protein, move on to colorful carbs and then indulge in whatever else I want with whatever room I have left over.
*  Being mindful means being aware of how I'm 'feeling' when I'm eating

What does being mindful mean to you?

It is a very nice morning to be outside.  The temp is just right.

No plans today.  I would like to go to the outlets to take a shirt back. Have to see how hubby feels after mowing two yards.  Just getting in fluids and moving around.  Debating on going back to work early or not.  It all depends on how I continue to feel.

Have a great monday!

Hi all,

What a nice cool morning.  Already enjoyed my coffee out on my pourch watching the entertaining hummers.  Today is recycling and study.  I tried to create a newsletter for my assignment and it did not work.  I am one of those people who can't be assumed to know anything.  I think the writer of this course thinks I know where to put things.  Not!  I tried some excel now that was a laugh.  So, I will muddle through the best I can.

What are you up to?

Proud, you are incredible. I didn't want to walk or use grabbers in the yard or nothing! I wanted to sleep and sip, maybe walk, then sleep and sip. I know you are going to be successful at this.

Today was grocery shopping day then we'll work out at the Y. We got electricity cut off here for about 7 hours but seems like nobody else in the area expereinced it. I wish we'd gotten a bit more of the rain but can't complain as there was very little damage. How are you down easter's? Hope you made it through ok.

I know we have some other folks who've just ogtten out of surgery and I wish you all well. Hope you are coping as best you can. These first weeks are usually hard on folks so I'm thinking about ya'.

doing some stuff around the house- nothing major just a few things like dishes and laundry (hubby is taking it all upstairs for me)

I went on my first big walk today and WOW I did not want to stop. Well until the cramps in the lower part of my abdomen begged for releif. I have my TOM and it is being a pain right now.
I know I will sleep good tonight because I aim to NOT take a nap today. That may or may not change.

We might clean up the front yard, I have a nice pair of grabbers I can use, since I am not supposed to be leaning over all that much.

Hi all,

I pray you all survived Irene.  I know where we are, we only got the winds.

Today is church and probably more projects around the house.  It is going to be a hot one today.

What's up with you?
