Nothing planned for today.
Watched your news segment last night and I got MAD. Mad that any company with a supposedly reputable reputation could do that to anyone- good they went out of business, bad they did it during YOUR move. What a bunch of buttholes.....

Like I said last night- wish I could help, just not in the cards. This is my last preop weekend and hubby has to put in more hours to cover for the 2 weeks he is taking off. Sorry.

Yesterday was a PITA- waited forever for the anesthesiologist and he used the excuse of him having not gotten the text. Yea right he was right there outside the door when the nurse told him but he chose to go get coffee instead. But he won't be the one putting me under, it will be another guy. Thank Goodness.

Actually there might be stuff planned for today- like finishing some minor cleaning and MAYBE just maybe going for a gym run. I dunno. Today is gunna be the last day for this cabbage soup YUCK. I am going over to SF jello and POPsicles tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great day.....

Hasn't the evening and morning temps been wonderful?  I have so enjoyed it!

Well, we are on for Saturday.  Finally, and hopefully no more hiccups.  Helpers are welcome.  I know it is no fun to help people move.  However, the good part is that it's all in one place.  No stairs, no having to fit through difficult turns and doors. We will have a small pizza party afterwards as a small celebration.  If you can find the time to help either with load or unload, it would be greatly appreciated.  I know there are support groups going on in the morning that day but we won't be done loading until later in the afternoon.  The more we have the quicker it will get done.  Think about it ok?  Thanks.

Today is getting the cars filled with gas and maybe a little grocery shopping.  I can finally get out of the house for a little while today.  Yippee!  What's on your agenda?

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

I am posting LATE- sorry. Today has been one of those days to say the least.
Had to go do all my pre-op stuff and it ended up taking almost FIVE hours. The anesthesologist pissed me off because the nurse had told him that I was waiting to be seen by him and he just walked right past her and said I am going to go get my coffee. UH excuse me I have already been waiting for like 45 minutes to see him. Then when he finally gets in the room he says he didn't know I was waiting on him. I asked him if he thought I was blind, deaf, or dumb- then I told him I has SEEN him and heard what he said. He didn't like getting called on it and tried to rush me when I was asking questions. I told him his coffee could wait. Well I will be seeing ANOTHER anesthesologist because he semi grudginly informed me it would nto be him (THANK GOD!!!) the ohter guy will be there monday morning, he had been out of twon for the birth of his grand daughter. Lovely huh?

I get home and i realize just how much I have been wearing myself out and was suddenly tired. i took a 4 hour nap.lol

Hi Sylvan,

The skim milk does count, so kudos for getting that in. Most programs know that it takes many people a while to work up to the protein counts that are suggested and the biggest concern is normally making sure that you are adequately hydrated, followed by the protein and finally the supplements. The way that my program suggested I do it to be sure I got in all my protein was they had me get 4 2 ounce little medicine cups. I filled one with 2 ounces of protein and the other three with fluids which for me were often Crystal Lite. I took the protein, which for you might be skim milk at the top of the hour and the others every 15 minutes. If you needed more protein, maybe you could do 2 protein and then 2 fluid, alternating them. I was to do this every hour that I was awake, as well as get up and walk around once a hour that you are awake to help move the gas that was used to fill your abdomen for surgery as well as help protect you from developing a clot/DVT by moving your legs and thereby pumping the blood from your legs up through your body.

While some people hit the ground running and seem to barely feel like they had surgery, it's not uncommon to feel like you were run over by a truck. Remember, you really did just have major abdominal surgery, so try to be gentle with yourself.

If you look at my personal blog, you'll see that when I was about 10 days out, I also wondered what in Sam Hill I had done. Now, knowing what I know, I do it again, and again, and again...

Hang in there!

Shee**** has been a bad week for you! I'll keep you in my thoughts.

About being able to drink... I'm amazed but that is great that you can drink. With so much else going on it is a plus. Glad you can try to Boost and Ensure. Let me know how it goes.

I went back and read the booklet I have and it looks like I can do Ensure Plus and Boost Plus.  My husband has gone to the store to get me some.

About the sip, sip, sip thing... I seem to be able to drink things right down.  Is this a problem?  Am I doing something wrong?  When I get thirsty, I get a glass of water.  Before I know it, half the glass is gone and I'm feeling fine.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.  This has been a bad week for me.  I just got back from having a diagnostic mammogram.  It doesn't look so good.  I've got to go back in for a biopsy.  The doctor really didn't have much encouraging to say other than that it is small.  If I can't stop doing the blood thinners for 24 hrs then I'm going to have to wait a couple of weeks for the biopsy.  Honestly, this has been a rough week.

I'm sorry I just can't help. I have probelms with my back and with my knees. That's why I'm swimming instead of walking. Also, I have to work the whole weekend.

I just found out from the RNY site that I was eating too much protein - around 140/day. I'd read some posts of pepople doing it that high and panic set in. I immediately set out to raise my protein. Well, at only 2.5 months out and not working out that strenuously (not doing marathons and such) I don't need that much protein and it might not be good for me.

So, as of today I'll start adding in more veggies and maybe even some fruit. I'd left that out all of a sudden when I wanted to keep my calories down and my protein up. Oh well! On to better meals from here out.

I'm at work all day and have to be in extra early tomorrow. I think I'll go home and just go to bed tonight. Do not pass Go, do not collect $100. lol
