Topic: RE: Questioning my decision and timing of surgery

Best regards, and know that you are not alone.  I had the exact same fears and worries for two years prior to surgery.  I am not a Portsmouth patient, but I believe we all travel the same basic path to surgery, and beyond.
I too had concerns about both lapband and bypass, and ultimately opted for the sleeve.  Two years ago that was not an option due to insurance, and I know many surgeons are not performing them, as yet. It took me two years to find the right mix of surgeon, surgery type, and courage!
At 54, I missed out on alot due to obesity and the restrictions it puts on you mentally and physically. I also developed co-morbidities that I could have avoided entirely.  As far as time for recovery, my personal experience was back to my desk job part-time at day 9, and full time at day 14, following a laparascopic sleeve gastrectomy.
I had the support of family, friends and co-workers, and they certainly made my recovery easier.  The fear will be there until it is over, and it does get worse when the work is done and you are waiting for surgery day. If you let fear guide your decision, you will never have surgery.
Though we all share the experience, we are unique individuals.  Only you will know when the time is right for you.

I did so well yesterday, in fact all week.  I guess my wakeup call worked!!  Thank goodness it is Friday though.  I think it has been a long week for everyone...but dodgeball was a blast last night!!!

Breakfast:  1 cup granola with 8 ounces of simply smart milk

Lunch:  homemade mac and cheese

Dinner:  Not sure, but since I made hubby pot roast last night (which I cannot eat), I think it will either be chicken or fish!

Snacks:  Yogurt and pure protein bars

I probably won't exercise tonight....I really need to give my knee a rest, but we will see.

Hope everyone has a great day, and a great weekend.  Remember, your plan doesn't stop for the weekend!!!

I'm SO happy its Friday!! Its been such a long week. Too bad tomorrow is trick-or-treat. All the candy coming into the house will be a challenge!! (even though, I bought candy a month ago and it hasn't been touched... go us!)

Off to today's plan

Breakfast: Cottage Cheese w an apple
Lunch: Pork chop and re-fried beans w low fat cheese (and some BBQ sauce to fight the dry)
Dinner: Meatloaf or Shepard's Pie... I haven't heard back from Hubs on which he wants... they are essentially the same thing anyways ;)
Snack: Laughing Cow Cheese

Got LOTS of activity in at Dodge ball last night which made me happy :)  going to go for a nice long walk at lunch too so I should be good :)

Breakfast - egg& cheese
snack Greek yogurt
lunch - left over chicken Mexican style
dinner - not sure need to shop for the week before  I leave
protein bar if needed and I have grapes
