I think like a lot of new WLS patients after getting up the nerve to have Lap Band surgery that everything that went along with it would be a breeze. Of course after having the surgery and the deadly gas pains and heart palpitations I realized this is a little scary. So, when the time came to have my first fill I was filled with dread...oh no more pain. It was a little hard to see the needle, I asked the doctor was a horse in the room...he didn’t laugh. He showed me it only looked that big because it contained the saline for the band. I didn’t feel it going in only pressure and it was over soon I did realize I was still holding my breath and in a sit up position until he told me to relax. All the nights I had stressed about it, all the post I had read about everyone's experience. Bottom line...it wasn’t so bad and I didn’t croak!! My next fill is set the day before Thanksgiving......
Oh Noooooo!!!

I, too, work in the medical field in Santa Fe. I work in home oxygen and so work with many of the Docs here - they are so inspired by what I've gone through and my success that they are actually sending their obese patients to me to talk with. That is one of the reasons I thought this support group would be a good idea.
Hope to see you there.
