Topic: RE: TriCare Prime and Body Contouring
Hi, I get lost on this website,  here is what I did, I went to Luke AFB and got a referral, and it was in Arizona, so I called my daughter in Washington, her husband is stationed at McChord and they told me that they do all that and everything else on WLS at Fort Lewis, so I packed up a few things drove here. Now I had to change my Tricare to here, but that was easy and I been here for over a month. I went to the doctors at Ft. Lewis and now my story gets better.  I had an endoscope done last week and found out I not only have one hernia but two and a blockage. So now I know how I gained 23 pounds and never reached goal. So I am now waiting for them to call for surgery. The doc said I have to wait until I get to goal before they do the plastic surgery, but I am gonna ask them to do a mini TT so I don't get another hernia. I really want to get back to Vegas after the 1st of the year, so I am praying that they get the surgery done before the holiday's. But when you reach goal go and get a referral,  and don't  take NO for an answer. Good Luck...

Topic: RE: Do YOU want to Enlist but b/c of WLS you can't?
So sorry to hear this, but I to tried to join, this is what I got, if you can consume 36 oz of water in 15 mins and then after that go eat a meal that they serve in 5 mins then drink 12 oz of water you can join, so the thing is in boot camp you need to drink more water in a short period of time then what we drink now. boot camp is hell people that have the surgery while in the military have already done boot camp, us that want to join after surgery is a health risk. It SUCKS I know, but now I am 2 years to old. but I have a CDL and know how to drive big trucks. I am so thinking about going over there and drive for a civilian contractor. If my family lets me that is.. Good luck with your fight.

Topic: Yippie 4 Me!!!

I just got off the phone with the surgeon's office and my consult is scheduled for next Thursday, November 15th! It seems like such a long time to wait, I know its not, I'm just getting very impatient!!! Let's get this thing done already!!! In the meantime, I'm working on my list of questions for the surgeon to help me pass the time.  If all goes well at the appointment, I will get a surgery date before I leave the office!

Topic: Surgical Clearance
Hi everybody, I just wanted to share the great news...I am officially cleared for surgery! I passed my psyc eval, and all my labs, and chest X-ray came back normal. The coordinator at my PCP's office has sent mf file to the surgeon's office.  I called the surgeon's office to schedule my final pre-op consult, but the one who schedules the consults is already gone for the day. I left a message for her to call me Monday. I just can't believe that it is all finally coming together!!!

Topic: RE: Dr. Segura
Hi Dr. Lindsey,  I am doing very well after my lap band as soon as I discovered that the pain I am having is gone when I take Ibuprofen and there is no hunger when I eat soup with protein powder that I mix in a bullet.  I only have a little longing when I see food on the tv, but I chose to do this and am commited to loosing weight so I have to get over it.  Watching the food channel would only make it worse for me.  Why punish myself!! The smaller portions is something I think I can deal with, if I know I have to.  Small price to pay to loose weight.  I just had foot surgery by a Dr. Ricciardi and it turned out to be just what was necessary for my condition.  He did a great job and I am recovering nicely.   Nice to hear from you. Thanks

Janet I hope everything went well for you with your surgery today. I think it is great to get the Las Vegas OH board more active, especially right when folks are immediately preop. It is funny because in my experience, people respond very differently in those first days and weeks. I know many people who have woken up from surgery and thought "(&^%! What did I do!" Some people are elated -especially if they find they are not too hungry.  I've talked to other people who have mourned food in those early weeks - some people told me that they spent hours watching the food network!  I remember one woman who made the analogy of WLS being like going through a divorce (but with food) ... you are used to having food right there for so long and then bam, suddenly, you can't eat. But, not being able to eat does not last long- most everyone can eat most everything they enjoy - just in smaller proportions.  Keep posting and best wishes to you!
