Topic: RE: Visiting Vegas
I, too am coming out to Vegas but In August. a month too late for the OH event. My hunny and I are coming to out get married, spend a few days in town and also take in the grand canyon. I am SO excited. I havent been on a plane in 12 years and it was a bit uncomfortable to fit in those seats.  We're flying out from Mass.   and also if anyone cares to make a suggestion, we are getting married outside, not in a chapel or anything. we have our minister but just need to choose where to do it. anyone have any favorite places? somewhere that doesnt have 1000 people walking by every minute

I don't have an answer but I do have a question.  I am considering seeing De Rutledge because my staples are "disrupted after five months.  I am from Washington and had my surgery done in Seattle.  I wondered how you found Dr Rutledge.  Thanks ....another WLS person looking for answers now because they want to completely redo that horrible open surgery.   Sandy

$35 bucks!? Sounds like way too much to me. I'm heading to Iowa on the following Monday so I'd probably be too busy (and broke) to afford it anyway.  However, it's good to see a few people posting here on the boards for NV. Anyone want to get together and do lunch or something? I know the old meetings are defunct, so it'd just be fun to meet with other post ops and talk about life in LV, PS, WLS or anything that comes up!  Please let me know - and what day is best? I'm teaching summer school so I'm off after 1:30pm daily, but I know a Saturday may work best for others if it's lunch?  I included the details of the OH event below for anyone who is interested. J. Timothy Katzen, MD, FACS

Plastic Surgery After Weight-Loss Dr. J. Timothy Katzen addresses the fundamental concerns that come with massive weight loss. Studies show that in the first two years following successful bariatric surgery, a patient will lose an average of two-thirds to three-quarters of their excess weight. Oftentimes, when a patient loses such a substantial amount of weight in a short period of time, the outer skin doesn't retain the elastic qualities needed to "shrink back down" to the body's new shape. This can leave patients with excessive amounts of hanging skin that create problems, such as daily hygiene and finding the right clothing. Dr. Katzen has made post-bariatric plastic surgery an integral part of his practice. By performing one or more body-sculpting procedures, Dr. Katzen removes these excess folds of skin, revealing a new shape that was once hidden. He will discuss the various procedures that can reshape and tighten the skin in many areas of the body, including the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, legs, arms, breasts and face.

You might try Dr. Aly and Dr. Cram at Iowa City Plastic Surgery. I know they take insurance - although I'm not sure on the Tricare Prime.  I believe they are the best there is for massive weight loss body contouring!  I'm going there next month for my LBL.  Jill  revision from band to DS 3/10/05 hw/sw/cw/gw 440/435/190/165 -250lbs, 25lbs to go  www.picturetrail.com/kilaani

Hi everyone, I just received my approval to see a surgeon, now the doctor that I have approval for is in another state, but I have heard a lot of negative stuff about him, I am now looking for another doctor but the other one is in another state also, does anyone know of a surgeon here in Nv. that takes Tricare that isn't on the list yet?  I really hate the idea of leaving the state, but I so want to have all this skin removed. Thanks for any help

Topic: RE: Anyone in the Carson City area?
Janet, I agree with the other post.  There is an excellent support group in Carson, I love it (have only attended once but it was great).  It is a good, jovial, supportive and informative group.  I think she/he would like it...Deb A
