Topic: New procedure in las vegas?
Hi,
I am in Greenville, SC. A friend of mine works at a clothing store and one of her customers told her she was going to Las Vegas to have bariatric surgery. A doctor there was going to use a new procedure he developed. It is half the cost of gastric bypass surgery and there is no stay in the hospital. She also told her that it was impossible to gain the weight back and you could eat whatever you wanted.
I promise you this is not a fairy tale that I am spinning, though I laughed when my friend told me the story. The reason I am posting this here is that I was wondering if there was a doctor in Las Vegas that was making such claims. Have any of you heard of this???
Thanks!
Terri

Topic: Aug'05 Surgiversary Board Members Visiting Vegas
hello Everyone!!
The Aug Board is looking to celebrate our FIRST Anniversary together..we were looking at NY (where I live) but I think VEGA$ is really the place to be..cost wise and FUN wise..
I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on what Hotels are good and who to avoid..?I know the Boardwalk is gone and was thinking about the Sahara. Its on the Strip , 3 stars and $39 day. We all know the hotels are most expensive on weekends,,so does anyone know if NON-CASINO hotels are cheaper and what would you recommend? or would you recommend something like the RIO- which is totaly off strip- and is it a great place to do stuff?
We are thinking of doing this in late August - possibly September, depending on schedules..and OF COURSE, if any other local OH members wanna join us- you are welcome to hit the road with us as well.. We are a very friendly group. and you can log in to our board anytime, we would love to hear from you:
You can message me here or email me..I would love to hear from everyone with suggestions and open to them as well.
Hugs,
Donna

Topic: Looking for a great Chiropractor? I found one!
As a post op LAP RNY patient I still live everyday with the effects of the damage I caused to my body. At a weight of 342 pounds I had great difficulty getting around. Unfortunately, at 171 pounds I was still having problems and pain from all those years of excess baggage. I decided I wanted to do something about it, and that I wanted to take a more natural approach, rather than taking medicines that only mask the pain. Well, let me tell you that I LUCKED OUT! I found a local Las Vegas chiropractor who understands the special needs of a bariatric patient. Both pre- and post- op. Within just a few visits he had begun to gently work away the horrible pain I had experienced for many years. He also diagnosed structural damage that no other doctor had been able to identify and has made great progress in correcting it. He is so kind and gentle with his patients, I have never had to wait more than five minutes, and kids are always welcome. He treats you like a person, not a patient, and I think this is the most important quality that a doctor can possess. I was just sitting there thinking how nice it is to not be hurting all of the time and thought 'hey! maybe others would like to know too!'. His office accepts insurance too! If you are looking for a natural, gentle way to alleviate your pain please please please give it a shot. I promise no matter your weight or your problem he will treat you with respect and kindness. I hope that by recommending him that his practice will grow and he can in some way be repaid for the great difference he has made in my life! My name is Jennifer Simpson, and if you tell his staff that I recommended them I promise that they will take good care of you. (I like to go in and laugh with them when I have my appointments and now they know me on a first name basis.) The office is NATURAL PAIN SOLUTIONS 10300 W Charleston Blvd Suite 10 Las Vegas, NV 89135 702-320-5225 And be sure to ask for DR KEYSAR!!!!!!
Please dont hesitate to message me if you have any questions at all!!

Jennifer, I also live in Las Vegas, I had my WLS in Feb, 2006 Dr Irwin Simon. He is great as is his staff. He is on this forum under Bariatric Surgeons if you want more information. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. I had multiple health issues too, high cholesterol, acid feflux, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia also Hashimoto thyroididts. All is much better after surgery. I have lost 60 lbs so far and feel great. Good luck with everything.

Topic: Philadelphia Gathering of Friends of WLS
Philadelphia Gathering of Friends of WLS
Friday, October 6, 2006 - Sunday, October 8, 2006
Adults Only
Registration Deadline is September 1, 2006
Late Registration Deadline is September 15, 2006
These weekend gatherings are about meeting and connecting with people who can understand the journey we all have taken and to have fun with fellow WLSers and support people. And this year is something a little special, a Halloween Costume Ball! You can even win prizes for your costumes! So grab your ghoulish gear and come see Philly in the Fall.
We have finalized the Hotel Information for the Philadelphia gathering. The cost of the hotel is $99.00/per night, this is per room. You can call the hotel to make your reservations at 1-800-325-3535 or (215)547-4100 by September 15, 2006: Ask for "FRIENDS OF WLS".
Sheraton Bucks County Hotel
400 Oxford Valley Road
Langhorne, PA 19047
The hotel has a pool, hot tub, sauna and gym for guests to use at no charge. As a lot of people did at past gatherings, we recommend doubling and tripling up in rooms.
If you are flying into Philly, the best choice is Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) which is about 30 minutes south of the hotel on I-95; but you could also fly into Newark Airport (EWR) in New Jersey, which is about 1.5 hrs from the hotel. Cabs are available to the hotel, but we will try to organize our own little shuttle service, if we know what time people are coming into the Philadelphia airport. Remember, "You have a Friend in Pennsylvania" is our state motto- we will get you to the hotel!
Please feel free to bring your Significant other or Support person, but children will not be allowed at the Friday night or Saturday night events. In addition, the Philadelphia area has a wealth of nearby attractions and shopping. The hotel is down the street from Sesame Place for those interested in a family activity.
We will be releasing a full itinerary later, but a very brief overview is as follows:
