Topic: RE: will be visiting
Hi Freddy,
As a longtime "Vegan" maybe I can answer some of your questions. Since I live here I have never stayed at the Orleans, but my husband and I have been there numerous times.
The hotel itself would probably be considered a medium size by todays standards. Alot of locals go there frequently. It does offer several restaruants, from American, Mexican, Japanese, fast food, as well as a buffet that we have found to be quite good. It also has several different types of entertainment such as movie theatre, bowling alley, live entertainment and lounge. Also, they often have sporting events such as boxing or hockey in the winter.
Its location is off of the strip, so you would need to take a taxi or rent a car to get around.
As for other attractions, of course you can't miss seeing the Volcano at the Mirage, the Lighted Water Show and Atrium at the Bellagio. If you're bringing kids they would like the Excalibur. There's also "Glitter Gulch" aka Fremont Street, that is kind of fun on Fri or Sat nights as they often have live entertainment.
Well, I hope this will be helpful to you. Please feel free to email me if you have any more questions.
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WEIGHTLOSS, THAT IS AMAZING!!

Topic: Surgery Support, PLEASE!
Hi everyone!
Janine Johnson will be returning to surgery this Friday, July 15th for what will hopefully be her last operation. It's all good, folks. It is a PS revision but we all know how scary surgery can be.
Please join me in sending Janine off to surgery with our support and well wishes.

Janine is one of our longest term post ops and a pioneer in the Plastic Suurgry/Reconstruction phase of post op WLS. I know she was there for me when as a stranger, at that time, I called on her out of the blue for PS info and referrals.
I had the pleasure of spending time with her and her best buddy Dave during the past weekend in Vegas! What fun!
BTW, Janine's birthday is also next week!!!
My best,
Robyn

Topic: URGENT ! Please help us help Wisconsin members this morning URGENCY NEEDED!!
Hi everyone,
A doctor sent this to me: "Sitting on Governor Doyle's desk is a budget which ELIMINATES coverage for Bariatric Surgery via Medicaid. Governor Doyle has ASSURED us last week that he was going to veto this provision in the budget. It appears that political pressure (from both parties) has swayed him to a position where he is NOT going to veto this measure. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DISASTROUS BLOW TO THE AVAILABILITY OF BARIATRIC SURGERY FOR THE CITIZENS OF WISCONSIN! We must act NOW! It is our understanding that the final decision will be made early to mid week."
I urge everyone reading this to contact the Governor's office directly by phone - number and email below. Get fellow postops, preops, family members, employers, friends to call and urge him to veto this measure. Explain what bariatric surgery has done for you. Explain how many medications have been eliminated by your weight loss. Explain how much more productive you are after your weight loss. Explain how your quality of life has improved. FLOOD HIS OFFICE PHONE!
Email him. Contact friends in your support groups and urge the same.
I had this from one who will be collecting your emails and sending them to the governor:
"Someone, everyone, please post something on the ObesityHelp.com Message Boards, both Statewide and Nationwide. Urge people to contact Governor Doyle's Office. Urge them to look at this site for more information."
Elimination of Medicaid coverage for bariatric surgery has the potential to start a domino effect of non-governmental health care plans doing the same.
The Governor needs to hear that Bariatric Surgery actually SAVES money in the long run. In fact, a gastric bypass is PAID for in other medical cost savings and increased productivity in three years! He needs to hear that CUTTING bariatric coverage from Medicaid will actually result in increased costs to the taxpayers of Wisconsin!
Even more importantly, what's done in one state will affect other states and in the end, will affect your families, friends, etc. everywhere.

Topic: RE: MOTHER OF 3 NEED CLOTHES LOST EVERTHING IN APT Fire
My prayers are with this family, and I just joined, or I would have replied to this sooner. I am in California, but know that almost every town has a wal-mart near by. I have myself contacted them in the past when a family in our hometown (San Fran Bay Area) had also lost everything . I called, and then followed up with a letter. I was successful, and will gladly help in any way I can, If I had more specifics, I would even try contacting some Plus size catalog companies, and tell them of her situation. It is always worth a try, and many times, they are more than happy to helpout, and have done so In the past. If you are a part of a church ,or even if you arent, you may want to organize a drive to get this family help, or post flyers with their needs in different locations. I will help you with contacting companies If you still need help. I wish I had clothes to send, but I will do whatever I can to help in this families timeof need, I hope I am not too late!
