Hi all, Just wanted you to know I did not give up. Guess what, I went to Fresno California and had my Lap Band placed for 6,000. By Dr Edward Felix. If your thinking professional, and tired of the Fisher crew telling you you need a bunch of stuff done thats totally not necessary then go somewhere else. These people are washing each others backs, making $$$$$ off you and your insurance. As long as the insurance or you yourself are desprate enough to pay, they will be willing to take. To date I have lost 24 lbs and its only been 6 weeks. If I had any issues, its with the Fisher Monopoly in Las Vegas, and the abuse I suffered in his office. Glad to see there are new Doctors comming into town to give him a run for his money. Obesitey is in its self an issue. It dosent take a pychologist to tell you that. Get your surgery done and you will be surprised how quickly the issue goes away. Peace out...Peggy

Hi, I'd like to address some of the posts regarding the phyc evaluation. Seems to me comon sense would tell you that if you don't pass the phyc evaluation, you won't be getting the surgery, so I advise anyone pre-op to start with the phyc evaluation first. If you found the physcologist at Dr. Fishers office unprofessional, then maybe you should go to another one and get a second opinion. I was told I could get my own phyc evaluation from whom ever I pleased. I found the staff at Dr. Fishers office to be very friendly and helpful. Of course, they are concerned with how you're going to pay and if your insurance will cover the surgery...thats a given with any Doctor. It's hard to fool a trained professional, so if the physcologist feels you have underlying issues and is delaying the surgery, maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Everything happens for a reason including delays. If it means moving you on to another surgen, where things will go smoother for you, then maybe it's a message from a higher power. I'd say go with your gut instincts. Theres more than one surgen in town and a reason for everything. Don't give up!

Topic: Please support a fellow LOSER!
This is difficult to report but a fellow WLS LOSER has suffered the loss of her baby in utero. Michelle aka "Pinky" is understandably devasted by this tragic news. She is not online much but she does read the boards during her infrequent downtime. Please join me in sending Michelle our sympathy and concern to her and her loved ones during this time of her sorrow and grief. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/status.phtml?N=S1057909143 Thank you for your support. Topic: What do you want at OH events?
Hi everyone -
I just was sent a great idea from Red Haired Girl and I had to thank her in front of all of you -
Here is part of the e-mail:

" She moves with the insouciance of someone who has always been 120 pounds, except when she stands up, when she looks a bit as if she's been fired from a slingshot. ("It's like, whoa-I'm used to going for the big lunge.")

This made me wonder if at your OH events do you ever do breakout sessions on movement. Not exercise. But movement. Teaching us how to move gracefully. It is something that many people never even think about. I do not see it discussed on the boards. With all of the changes ones body goes through after losing hundreds of pounds one probably does not have to stand up or sit down, walk or even gesture in the same manner as one did when heavy. One would probably be physically a little bit better abled to do it with more grace. If one knew how. Just a thought.

Red Haired

I thought that was a perfect class topic.
So here I am thinking - I am sure all of you have wonderful ideas out there - I would love to hear them - So I am asking the question -
What do YOU want to see at the ObesityHelp events?
We are looking at many things and would like your opinions to count in, as we are going to make these events bigger and better and what our members want to see, hear and do.
So the floor is open and I am listening...
This is your time to let us know - what you would like....

Thanks for taking the time to help us all grow stronger and better.
We are a family here and I need my brothers and sisters to help me with some fresh ideas.

If you would prefer to e-mail me:

I wouldnt reccomend Fisher. The staff is rude, Dr. Fisher appeared to not really care about me, but more about how I was going to pay for the surgery, since i didnt have insurance, and there Physc. Doc. treated me with direspect and was very condisending. There is nothing professional about sticking a 300 lb patient in a hot, dimley lit room for an hour and 35 mins!, with boxes piled to the ceiling with dust all over the place, and then continuely asking the patient what are you hiding from me I know you have issues your hiding from me. What is the purpose of that? Then she said to me what will you do if I fail you, I said I will give you your 150.00 and leave. And thats what I did. Dear God people dont be mistreated like I was. No one should have to be treated like this by any so called professional.

Topic: RE: Hiatal Hernia & surgery
Hi Patricia, I know what you mean about going thru the hoops with our local Doctors. Especially Dr, Fisher and his crew. Phew what a mess!! You would be better off getting involved with the new group of surgeons that have recently come into town. They are very proficent and no hoops to squeeze thru. Also you can have your hiatal hernia repaired at the same time your having your surgery. It may be to your best intrest to find another Doctor. Good Luck to ya
