P.S.
If you like to shop, you can also get some GREAT deals at the outlet malls while you're in town!

Make sure you go to Treasure Island, they put on a great free, outdoor show. But be sure to get there a little early so you can see, it gets pretty croweded at times. Check their website for times.
Also check out the lions at the MGM. Try to get there aroung feeding or exercise time so they'll be active.
If you want a free dinner and show tickets (for 2) go down to the strip just outside the Tropicana and you can sign up to go to an hour long (no obligation) time share presentation and they'll give you your choice of free dinner/show packages.
The Tropicana also has a free show called Airplay that plays several times daily.
Another fun thing to do is to drive out to Red Rock Canyon and take a driving/walking tour.
There's tons more, but that's all I can think of at the moment. I'll let you know if I think of anything else. Are you guys looking at any particular time frame for visiting? I ask because of seasonal-type events you may be interested in.
Keep us posted on your plans!

Topic: RE: Self Pay in Nevada?
Hi Richard:
I decided to self pay and am in the process right now. My surgen will be Dr. Atkinson, he does LAP-RNY for a cost of 21,500.00. I do have HPN -HMO and I got a refferal from my PCP to see Dr. Atkinson, hoping that the insurance will atleast cover the pre-op tests and Dr's visits. I will know in two weeks. My insurance will only cover 5,000.00 of the surgery after you jump through their various hoops, which I choose not to do. I want the surgery when I'm ready without a lot of delays and hassle. To me it's worth it, as I think the new lease on life I'll receive is priceless. Good Luck with what ever you choose to do. Have you attended a seminar yet? You can get all the info you need that way.

Topic: RE: Does anyone have ANY info...
Thank you for your reply. I'm waiting for 1 more test report. Did your doctor put you on a 1200 calorie diet prior to surgery? I'm afraid that if I don't lose enough weight he might not do the surgery. Please advise. Also, are there any support groups at St. Rose Hospital?

There is much to do here beside gamble. You can tour Boulder Dam, see shows, visit Ethel M Chocolates, The Liberace Museum, Elvis Museum, Las Vegas Museum. Go downtown about 2 hours before it gets dark, eat in one of the fine casino restaurants then watch the Fremont Street Experience which goes on every hour (after dark) & has a different show each time. Walk Fremont street & visit 'old vegas', the street vendors & there is a guy who does paintings using spray paints & cardboard cut outs to create the most fantastic pieces of art. You will definitely want to check out 'the strip' in daytime & night time. Most of the hotels have street entertainment eg: Bellagio has dancing fountains, Mirage has a volcano etc. Check out all the hotels, they are gorgeous. The Flamingo Hilton still has its orginal front outside & in. There are bus trips you can take to Laughlin or Mesquite. Helicopter rides to the Grand Canyon. The list goes on.
If you are here when my support group has a meeting scheduled, you are more than welcome to attend & meet some of the local wls patients. Check out our site:
