Good morning everyone. I called the surgeon's office yesterday and they told me that the insurance company approved my surgery. Wow! it only took 2 days to get the approval. Now I can really get nervous. I have my pre-op next thursday and surgery scheduled for the 14th. I just have to maintain my weight. Boy is that a struggle.

Congratulations Catherine on your insurance approval. I too am having surgery this month, the 29th. I got a letter from BCBS this morning that was a copy of one that went to Dr. Graniero's office. It said that they needed other materials to approve the gastric bypass but, when I read further down, I realized the only thing they needed was a letter from my Primary Care Physician stating my physical health and severity of comorbidities. So I'm sure I will hear within the next week that I am approved. I am very excited and can't wait! Are you going to Utica for your operation? I wish you all the best and will be praying for you to have a safe surgery and a quick recovery. Good luck on the losing side! Laura

Glad to hear you're almost there too. Yes Dr. Graber. Be sure to follow-up with you PCP. Sometimes they don't get the message soon enough. Good luck and thank you for your support

Congratulations Catherine! That is a very big deal. Do make sure your PCP gets on the ball and writes that letter (find out the fax number at the insurance co and have him fax a copy too....the quicker the better). Call the next day and find out if your PCP sent the letter! Be a pain in his/her neck! Good luck! Amy
