I got the letter today that I was approved for the open RNY through my surgeon. I cannot tell you how excited I am. I started my liquid diet on Thursday. It consists of Carnation Instant Breakfast drink for my three meals and clear liquids, sf popsicles or sf jello. I don't have any popsicles or jello in the house yet so I am all liquids. The first day was the worst, but now I dread the mealtime shake because I'm so sick of drinking liquids and feel very sick to my stomach when I drink it. My other liquids go down just fine and so I drink a lot of water and Crystal Lite. I have my pre-op work up this Thursday, the 22nd. The following Tuesday I have my final weigh-in and my surgery is Thursday the 29th at 10:30am. My doctor requires us to stay on all liquids for 3-4 weeks after the surgery, so I won't be eating again until the end of July, but boy am I already looking forward to it. The hardest part is making food my my husband and son. My sweet husband does as much as he can by himself, but I still need to do my part and that can be a little hard at times. It will all be worth it in the end. My son (4 yrs old) knows about the surgery and has become so clingy with me. I have talked to him at length about Mommy being in the hospital for 3 days and Aunt Susie being here to take care of him and Daddy. He loves to sit with me in the recliner. I open my legs for him to get in between them and he calls it "the nest". He sometimes tweets like a little birdy when he wants to get in and it is soooooo cute! I just love him to death. I have explained to him that I won't be able to pick him up, let him sit in the nest or hug him real tight for quite a few weeks and he understands, but is saddened by it. It just breaks my heart, but I know for his future that it is all worth it. Have a great weekend!!! We are camping out this weekend in our backyard (2 acres). We slept out last night and my son loved it. Unfortunately we got unpredicted rain this morning and had to boogie out of the tent around 7 to keep from getting wet. Dad and son are out at the tent now wiping it down and opening it up for tonight. Tonight will be a fire and marshmallows, well, not for me. Laura 290/269/160
