Did anyone's insurance cover reconstructive plastic surgery after gastric bypass operation? If so, could you let me know please?

No I had to pay for my tummy tuck myself, even I have three hernias. You have to prove medical necessity. If you have rashes, sores, back pain, you should make sure you document everything. Take pictures of any rashes and sores and keep copies of all prescriptions and document all doctors visits. Joanne

Debra, Insurance companies have become very tight fisted in the past few years due to the rise in requests for plastics following extreme weight loss. I have gone on one consult already and heading to another on Tuesday. Aside from a hernia and diastasis rectus (separation of stomach muscles), I have truly given up hope that I have anything medically necessary that will allow my insurance to cover plastics. Some insurance companies are more liberal than others. Some don't touch it with a ten foot pole. Good luck. Donna
