I had my surgery with Dr. Caruana six weeks ago and I had two drains becuase he removed my gallbladder during my surgery. They were both removed the morning I was released from the hospital. They are really no big deal. The nursing assistants will come in once a shift and empty the drainage and measure it. After he takes them out he just puts some guaze over the hole and it will close on it's own in a few days. Good luck to you Sally

I had my sugery a week ago Feel great except for yesterday when the drain was taken out. OMG thought I was gonna die. If you get one . Tell them you want some valium or something for the pain. Positive side was that I'm down 15 lbs. in 1 week and the drain pain disappeared in about 20 minutes.
