Afternoon All,
I am six days postop and feeling sore and very very tired.
Just wanted to thank you all for the well wishes and tons of emails...wow I feel sooo special...
Hey...I've lost 15 pounds.....
I thought (hee hee) that I could go back to work this Monday...forget it....not till May 1st....this journey is about me and creating optimum health for me....I have to be very selfish during this time...
I will write again in a few days...it seems each day I feel better and better....
Hey Ladies and Gents...I am on the losing side...finally..
Love you all Susan

Susan:
HELLO again & WELCOME TO THE OTHER SIDE!!!!!!
Your body is telling you WHOOW slow down lady take time for yourself, this was MAJOR surgery. You are right we get ONE honeymoon, ONE chance to larn a new lifestyle to last a lifetime...so be prepared when you return to work, the more time u take to know how to/what to drink/eat/exercise/fit it all in is important!! *I remember I had to set an alarm to snooze no more than an hr!!!*
I am glad to hear you have decided to put yourself FIRST! One lesson I feel is important to learn for long-term health, sucess, happiness & wellness is to be self-responsible! AND it is NOT selfish! It is actually quite the opposite! All our lives many of us are that helpless caretaker, the one who thinks:
"IT IS WRONG TO BE SELFISH"
BUT it is just an IRRATIONAL THOUGHT PATTERN (*old negative tape we play in our heads)
*TO SUCCESSFULLY LOSE WEIGHT AND MAINTIAN YOUR GOAL YOU MUST ENGAGE IN GOOD SELF-CARE
*YOU MUST BE ABLE TO ATTEND TO YOUR SPECIAL DIETARY AND EXERCISE NEEDS
*THESE ACTIVITIES REQUIRE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS AND SCHEDULES TO UNDERGO ADJUSTMENTS
*IF YOU BELIEVE IT IS SELFISH TO TAKE TIME FOR YOUR NEEDS OR INCONVENIENCE OTHERS YOU WILL SACRAFICE YOUR HEALTH/SUCCESS AS NOT TO UPSET OTHERS
CHALLENGE THE SELFLESS CARETAKER:
"IT IS GOOD TO BE SELF-RESPONSIBLE"
*YOU ATTEND TO YOUR NEEDS AS WELL AS YOU ATTEND TO THE NEEDS OF OTHERS IMPORTANT IN YOUR LIFE.
*EATING HEALTHY MEALS, EXERCISE, SUPPORT GROUPS ARE ALL SELF-RESPONSIBLE ACTIONS.
*YOU ARE BETTER EQUIPPED TO CARE FOR OTHERS WHEN YOU TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST!

So sip sip sip as not to get dehydrated, walk each hour to avoid blood clots and to rev that metabolism which wants to just put you to sleep to conserve energy, take your vitamins/minerals, those are the important tasks now!!!Followup with providers for life....Soon add protein first, chew well, eat slowly, add one new food at a time & enjoy the journey!!!
Love yourself now and each step of your adventure! Weigh/measure/take photos monthly also!!!!
And the therapist in me says JOURNAL so as not to lose sight of your goals, and to remember the journey!!!
Take Care,
Jamie
