Topic: New Member and New Journey
Hello!
My name is Jessica Smith and I am very new to this site and this big journey I am about to take. I live in Evans Mills, NY, I am an Army Wife, I have tri-care prime insurance, and my doctor that I will be seeing is Dr. Howard Simon ( so if any one has had him please send your feed back this way and if you have tri-care prime what I should expect with the approval process). I have my information session on Dec. 21st and I am really excited. I have been fighting my battle my whole life. As a teenager I was bulimic and in college my weight just went up from there. I am sitting at my highest weight I have ever been. I have tried all the yo-yo diets even jenny Craig, weigh****chers, and medifast and none of them work so my husband and I have felt that it was time to have WLS.
Thanks for you time and I am looking to all the feedback i can possibly get.

Agreed. I feel as though support meetings are only meant to "sell" surgery and not truely in support of the people who are having any difficulties. I know so many people who are discouraged and just don't see going to a meeting to talk about numbers worth the gas and mileage. Once you've had the surgery, it's like buying a new car....you've lost your value the minute you drive off the lot! LOL Oh well, I hope that on the occasional chance I look here, I will find something inspiring. I noticed your thoughts on WOW moments and replied to what I recently went through with a post op dating situation. I still carry around the hurt and do not know how I'm going to get through it unless I talk about it at the support meeting in front of everyone. It just may come to that eventually because I need to know why I'm being treated like I have the plague all of the sudden.

Unfortunately, I have limited access on the computer (here at work) so facebook is not one of those places I can visit. Like many people, I do not have any technical access from home and it is frustrating that everyone can only be found on a computer. In these rough economic times, I'm fortunate to put gas in the car to get to work. That's about the only luxury I've allowed in several years. I also do not have a gazillion cable tv stations, only the major networks, CBS, NBC, ABC, TV55 and NEWS12...the rest in spanish which are useless. Still, I manage to count my blessings but reaching out for support is costly and I just don't have it. This website used to be very active and sadly in severe decline :(

Part of me thinks that it's because surgeon's don't push sites like this. Sometimes it's all rah-rah-sis-boom-ba....and this site shows the great, good, mediocre, bad and struggles we go through.
More surgeon's offices need to get on board and push the valued wealth of info (and support) that can found here.

Over the years of having had surgery (4 years ago), I see a huge decline in the use of this website. What happened to everyone? It appears to me that there aren't alot of people seeking help here. I was just curious if there is a decline in the number of people having surgery these days due to the decline in the economy. I do, however, see a huge number of people viewing posts but not replying to them.

Topic: Any feedback on these plastic surgeons in Ithaca/Syracuse/Rochester?
Hi folks,
I'm beginning the PS consult process and wondered if you had any feedback on the following surgeons:
Jeffrey Gusenoff - Rochester
Gregory Baum - Syracuse
David Monacelli - Ithaca
If so, it'd be helpful to know what kind of procedures you pursued, cost, satisfaction, etc.
Thanks in advance!
Michelle
