Someone advised the obesity lawyers, I just have one thing to add ..... make sure that you research the attorney BEFORE you give them your $$$$ the one that I hired has not done what he said that he would do at all and I hired him last Feb. I have had to call my insurance myself. He NEVER returns my calls and when I e-mail him I get really short answers to the mail and most time he does not address my questions. Of course you have to pay them upfront so they have your $$ and you can file a grevience but that does not get your $$ back or help your case, it just gets him researched and if the claim is valid then they pull his license. I am so upset cause he contacted me right away before I paid him and then sent the packet right away and he has had the surgery so I figured that he would be a good one to get. Well now I am sorry that I did. I too have an exclusion and there are other things going on too and he did not even listen when I explained about the whole thing before he wrote to my insurance company. If you want to know who he is just e-mail me and I will tell you. Good Luck, I know just how you feel. Just keep at them and maybe they will get sick of you contacting them. Sometimes you can check with the employer and see if they are the ones that requested it be excluded and ask them to reconsider. Shelia

I know who he is first name is Gary..... I have read all about him in other post... He tried to get my money. But My insurance approved surgery... and it is free to go to Ohio gov if you have a good case. He was talking $700.00 I said I dont think I need you. He answered all my emails so fast as well. So sorry to hear he took advantage of you. So wrong... Barb

Angela, our insurance had total exclusions for WLS & I gave up as well. Have you looked into getting a loan? I think CitiBank gives medical loans (even with "iffy" credit). The interest rate is a little high, but i think American Finance also loans money for WLS. Medicare? I was fortunate in that we cashed out one of our retirement annuities. I told my DH that I would have no retirement if I didn't get the surgery. He still balked until he stayed with his cousin in California last year while working out there. His cousin's wife had a stroke 10 years ago & has been bedridden with a feeding tube, catheter, etc. for the last couple of years & she's being taken care of at home. I told my husband, "That's gonna be you & me in a few years if I don't get WLS," & he immediately withdrew the retirement funds in April of this year & I had my surgery here in Ohio in May. Best of luck with getting the surgery. Hugs, NancyT

Hi Nancy, I wish to God we could get a loan. I would've done it long ago, and bi-passed all of this insurance stuff! When my husband lost his job earlier this year, we went through 3 months of Hell! And, all of his credit went with it. We're still trying to get caught up on just the "regular bills". I'm so happy that you could take that route! Congratulations! We live pay check to pay check, so even the hope of getting a lawyer is dwindling. Angela
