Is it necessary for the surgeon to wear gloves during an office fill. I don't think my dr. did last time.

Julie, Some surgeons don't wear gloves because it's harder to feel exactly where the port is. As long as you prep the skin with alcohol after you touch it, there's no worry about contamination. The wearing of gloves would be more to protect the surgeon than the patient, if that makes sense. Dr. C
