Hi all, I had my wls on November 29, 2005 and have lost 40 lbs since surgery Now for the last week, I've gotten serious about exercising (started Curves), but I haven't lost any weight. Is this a normal occurrence? I am having trouble getting in all the liquids and I'm only eating about 600-800 calories a day. I should be losing. Shouldn't I? Bobye

Of course it's normal!! You started exercising, so your muscles are increasing. Muscle weighs more than fat, by the way. You should start seeing changes in your clothes here, soon Also, don't be surprised to experience stalls along your journey. They are also normal. When they occur, just keep on doing what's best and you will jump off and start losing again. Also, a great piece of advice is to NOT be a slave to the scale. It will make you crazy. Try to weigh no more than once a week.

Bobye, You might need to really concentrate on upping your protein consumption and getting some extra calories in. It still amazes me sometime that the less I eat and more I work out, is when my weight loss stalls the most. I think every now and again, you just need to shake things up and wake your metabolism again, and then watch the scale nosedive. But only weigh in once a week. Otherwise you get obsessed with those dang numbers and you forget about how much your body is changing with the exercise. Dont give up!!! Your a loser and dont you forget it.. LOL Hugs Laura

hi Bobye, why do you weigh yourself every week? Never could understand that. I do not have a scale so i only got weighed once a month, which was fine with me this way i didnt get degected when i didnt loose. 40lbs is good so far keep up the good work. pattie

Sounds good to me!!!!! From what I have read on here, you sound pretty normal. I agree ... NO SCALE. Once a month is enough for me too. Susan

Laura hit it on the spot. You need to get more calories. From my understanding 800 if you dont excercise 1200 if you do. You need food to burn calories and fat. Protein water and excercise. Best wishes Barb
