Found out my surgeon!!

SO my surgeon is slated to be Dr. Grantchanov(spelling?) out of St.Mikes....
Has any one had this doctor and has anyone had surgery at St.Mikes(I havenot heard good things myself)...your thoughts?
I was to have surgery at TWH and they are looking into that but I thought I would ask around here first.

I had Dr Grantcharov he's an amazing surgeron!!  I had the surgery at St Mikes and the treatment I received was good

OMG I am sooo scared.... How is his bedside and does he truly listen to you? I guess because I work for the police the most I know is that St Mikes is not in the best Part of town.

No need to be scared - he's got a great bedside manner and yes he does listen to you - if you have questions he listens/answers them... St Mike's is in the heart of downtown but it's more of the emergency room where you see alot of crap!  when you are moved to your room if memory serves me correct you are up on the 16th floor - here is some information about him - he's got alot of experience  http://www.stmichaelshospital.com/research/profile.php?id=gr antcharov&

 please dont misunderstand my question.. it is asked with no tude intended... but..

what does the area a hospital is in have to do with the quality if care you will receive? 

I also had my surgary with him, he is excellent, I had a revision from the 80's and he told me thats what he did in the states before he came here, he's been doing WLS for quite a while,and St.Mikes hospital was good also the nurses were great, your in great hands there!! He ended up doing the VSG because of scar tissue instead of the RNY but I am happy about that now! Oh and by the way he's not hard to look at either. lol

I had Dr Grantcherov for a follow-up appointment at TWH last week and thought he was great!    Very kind, very focused on me and my issues, answered my questions thoroughly, and very polite.  St. Mike's is a great hospital and was in fact my first choice, but I ended up at TWH and it turned out to be a very good experience. 

I have a a co-worker/ friend that had him last year and she was very happy with him as well

Dee S the reason I am not too fond of the area is the "type" of people that frequent the hospital. Voluntary or involuntary. I am too familiar with the "locals" and I know it is a crisis hospital and I was hoping to be out of the area. You are correct that it has no weight on the treatment from the hospital. I have just heard some bad thing about some areas of st mikes, but bariatric related. Actually a co-worker had his surgery there about 15 yrs ago.
