How many people have experienced thinning hair? How much hair does one lose and is there a way to prevent it.  Is it a short term cindition and does it go back to noormal? From what I have been trying to educate myself with is that some or most of the side affects are sekf inflicted and can be minimalized if you follow exactly what you are told...is that true?

I really don't think you can do anything to avoid it.  And it's hair, so it grows back.

 hi Tango,

I was told that biotin will help with the hair loss and it will also strengthen your hair and finger nails, not sure if it really does tho, but it is what it is and as mentioned it does grow back, oh also i hear the longer your hair is the more noticeable, again its what Ive heard.

I was upset when i heard this but I'm getting over it as long as i have a healthy new start in life i think the wows  will make up for a temp loss.

good luck,
Joy

Have a great day

Very normal. Even though you keep up with your protein levels, most people still end up losing hair or find that they have lots of hair breakage (so thus they get a shorter 'do). Unless you are extremely thin to begin with, no one will notice it but you.  It's not like we go bald. Some say Nioxin works or Biotin but others don't feel like those products made any difference so it is hard to say. It's only short lived and will grow back anyway.  (No one noticed but me).

I've had hair loss. I think most of us do. I noticed it most when I was showering. Even though I knew about it, it did scare me at first when I looked down and saw the clumps/mass. Gets in every crook and cranny of your body also lol! Its' true that no one notices (except you). I have lighter hair and I think that makes it somewhat less noticeable also. It slows down eventually. Not as bad as I was worried it would be. Eat your protein!

I am 9 1/2 months out and I have NOT lost any hair.

Im not taking Biotin or anything else for that matter.

BUT

What I am doing is getting 80 to 100g of protein in each day. It wasn't to stop hair loss, that didn't bother me. I just like protein.

I start my day with 27g in a protein shake every morning, I have done that since the 3rd week post op. It's worked for me. But who knows, maybe i'll lose it later.

Hi there

It is perfectly normal. Nothing you can do will STOP it, but getting in your protien will help

Your hair will grow back. Some people's hair remains thin.

My hair dresser assured me I would not go bald, but to be honest, I thought "thinner and bald" might not be the worst thing LOL

It's all good. Try not to stress too much over all these things
Breeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaathe LOL

Usually you start noticing hair loss at around 3 months or so.

Ensure you're getting enough protein and talk to your nutritionist about your zinc levels.  I had low zinc and was noticing hair loss, started taking supplements and it slowed significantly - it didn't stop it, but slows it down.

I'm now at about 5 months out and the amount of hair falling out has slowed down a lot.  It's still more than usual but not coming out in clumps.

IT DOES GROW BACK.  So don't worry.

The others are right in suggesting more protein, as that is what they taught us in the education class. Lack of protein is the cause of hair loss.
