Well, my mother-in-law booked us in for brunch at the sugar bush here in Ottawa. It has been tradition, but now I'm wondering if I should just pass at eating anything to save her a few bucks. Even though she helped take care of me about a week after surgery, I think she seems to think that because I'm on soft foods that I can eat a lot more. Well, it's true, I'm almost eating double. Instead of 1/4 cup of food, I can have a half a cup! Lol. Oh well, such is life of the post rny-er. I'm just glad it doesn't bother me, or else I'd be sobbing in a corner lol.

Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!

Is she paying? Then don't worry!! Lol

Enjoy the tradition. Never hurts to explain it to the server that you've recently had surgery and have a very restricted diet. Ask for a small bowl of soup.

And enjoy all the other things that go with you traditional family dinner!!

I agree with the others.  Try to compromise, by going to the sugar bush and enjoying the tradition but not the full menu.  Along the way there are a lot of things that we have to adjust to and just make it work.  Have fun!
