complications?

Hi, I am 2 weeks post-op and did have complications, needing to spend 8 days in the hospital HOWEVER, they were short lived and I received the greatest of care, and now I feel great!
In order to qualify for this surgery we have to have co-morbidities, and depending on what they are they can give us trouble, but as my family doctor said, the risk of those harming me are a lot greater than the risk of the surgery!
Even this soon after surgery if you ask me if I would do it again, the answer is YES!
Keep reading and researching and make the right decision for yourself. And always ask any questions you want...take care,
Jackie

Hubby and I had surgery July 28th and had no complications!!  We're both feeling great and enjoying this new chapter in our lives so far.   The only real complaint that we have is the travel involved back and forth to  Toronto for appointments and followups, but we knew about that from the start, so we deal with it! lol

Being nervous is so normal, but really keep a positive attitude and do everything you possibly can to lose some weight before your surgery.  It does make things easier for the Dr.

Heya,

I had some complications from surgery July 26th.  I was also considered high risk due to many other issues, I had to get the Lap-Band taken out, and I had formed tons of keloid scars from other surgeries, and the band was completely encapsulated with scar tissue.  Unfortunately, the doc lacerated my spleen, and I lost a ton of blood.  I was in for five hours, just to stop the bleeding.  Unfortunately, there was a small leak in the spleen that required tons of hydration and blood transfusions.

The surgery comes with risks, and as others have said, so does obesity. I am one month out, and even though I am still dealing with some issues, I am glad to have started this journey.  Don't forget, they do TONS of surgeries that go well on people who aren't a part of this board.

I just had my surgery Aug 18th, and although I stayed in for an extra day due to fluctuating low blood pressure, I understand that is a pretty common thing.  I certainly didn't feel dizzy or anything from it,   Otherwise, the surgery went great, minimal amount of pain.

Still taking it slow and it seems to take a lot of planning and effort to get in a comfortable position for sleeping.  I've noticed this morning that my tummy is "softening" back up, so that means that the gas is leaving the building!

I just told my doctor to... do a good job.... and he did.
