Am I on track with weight loss?
you reach your maximum weight loss in 12 to 18 months. Here is what you can expect to lose post op!
Not necessarily so. I reached my lowest weight in my third year. Never give up!

I truly understand how you all feel. I was always concerned that I wasn't losing enough or as fast as many others. I'm not a gym rat or a runner, but I do walk for a minimum of 30 mins per day. I follow the program, making sure that I get in all my protein, water and vitamins. Yesterday was my 9 month anniversary and I've acheived my goal of 155 and now thinking that I'm going to aim for 150-145 but we will see how it goes, becasue I'm getting better at listening to my body now.
I just want you to assure you that if you stick with the program and get some exercise that the weight will continue to come off.
I think it is important to realize that you need to look at this in terms of % of expected weight loss.
As an example.
Abby needs to lose 100 pounds to have a normal BMI. Abby had a RNY which means she can expect to lose about 80% of that so she will lose 80 pounds. (remembering that years of being overweight has caused herr skelton to be heavier to support the weight etc.)
The idea that is used on the DS board is that to be "on track" you should have lost 50% of your excess weight by 6 months out and 75% of your excess weight by 1 year out. Which means you have a good chance of losing 100% by 18 months to 2 years out.
So for Abby the gooal is to lose 40 pounds by 6 months, 60 by 1 year and 80 by 18 months. Anything more is gravy!
Hope that helps,
CNC

I'm seven months out and went through the same worries at the same time. What everyone has said is right on, but I'd just like to add that it was at this point that I started using Fitday.com to track my food - and although my total calories weren"t very much and I was getting in my protein - my carbs were higher than I realized. At TWH they recommended a 1/3 protein / 1/3 carbs / 1/3 fat approach, and I was too low on the fat and too high on the carbs. I adjusted my eating (although I am still low on the fat) and made sure that my carbs stayed under the 33%. Made a BIG difference in my weight loss! No change to exercise. Just my experience, but it worked. As a matter of fact, I've just done another reevaluation, and sure enough the carbs have been creeping up again because I've started to add high fibre cereal and it's thrown off my food balance, haha!

I don't read a lot on this board about people doing weight or strength training. Cardio is important but so is weight training. Women have less muscle mass to begin with and we start losing it in our 30's a small percentage every year, by the time we are in our 80's we've lost 30-50% of the muscle mass we had in our 20's. Muscle will burn more calories and will be burning more all the time not just during exercise so it is worth while to incorporate some kind of weight or strength training into your exercise. If you want to jump start your weight loss try adding in some weight training or challenge yourself with your walking by adding in a few seconds of jogging.
Thank you all for the amazing replies! It is reasurring that we are all on similar tracks. i am in no way complaining of the weight I have lost bt just worried I am not losing as I should. Seeing I haven't seen ANYONE since 2 week post op! TWH was in a panic when they realized they dropped the ball after I called the head of the dept. Now all of a sudden its urgent I come in. Funny ow that works.
