It's a go!!!!!!!!!!!!
Warning lengthy message ahead...
As most of you knew today was the day I met my surgeon. And as most of you also know I was so worried that he was going to tell me no, or want more tests or whatever...just my stupid head telling me something was going to stand in my way...but it didn't, we are ready for take off!!!!!!! with a few possible changes...
He said because of the shape of my stomach (some people are pear shaped, some people are apple shaped and I said, ya and I am watermelon shaped lol).. he may not be able to do the RNY, he may have to do a sleeve instead as there may not be enough intestine to bring up and around He said there is no way to tell this until he actually sees inside through the laproscropic incisions. If there is not enough intestine then he would do the sleeve.
He told me that their goal is to do the RNY, that is what they want to do and if at all possible that is what he will do, but if he can't it will be a sleeve. I am not a big fan of sweaters, but okay..
As he would like very much to do the RNY, he has asked me to do Opti-fast for 4 weeks prior to the surgery, compared to the normal 3...of course this cost an extra hundred bucks (I think I will definitely have to be a scrooge this Christmas lol), but it should also help me lose a bit more weight and heighten my chances of getting the RNY.
He also said that I will need my gallbladder out and he is really hoping that he will be able to do it at the same time. He said if everything goes okay when he's in there, if the stars, sun and moon align then he will go ahead and do that as well. I have already signed the consent form for it.
Finally, he said the maximum time frame now is 8 weeks, so the very latest date I should be in for is January 15, however, the receptionist at the front counter said they will probably call me next week with a date.
All I know is that I was a VERY happy camper and had a smile from ear to ear when I left that place having signed the papers and carrying my Opt-fast in hand!!! (Thanks Mom for looking down on me today ♥)
And thank you to ALL of you for your words of advice, support and encouragement through all of this.
