Surgeon's goals

I am currently 5'4 and 270 pounds.  I was told my goal weight was between 175 and 220 pounds.  They explained that the BMI was used to determine HOW overweight I was to begin with but would not be used to determine what weight I should be at.
Confusing I think.

OK, so if I started at 278, and 134 is top of normal BMI (I'm 5' 1.5"), that's 144 lbs to get to normal BMI.  65% of that is around 93 lbs.  So I would be considered a success once I lose 93 lbs.  Sound right?  Wow, those numbers sound overwhelming.   Doable, but still overwhelming.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

Technically you'd be a success at anything less than 206 (50% EWL), and at 184 (65% EWL) you'd be average. To maintain average though, you're going to want to get lower than it initially to account for some regain when the malabsorption stops. It's doable for sure.
