Post-oppers...need info re: cold and gas again
Hi April - I found that like Joyce J. said hot liquids help a bit. I drank tea and used a ho****er bottle on my tummy a lot. I had a lot of pain in my left shoulder for the first two weeks and then suddenly it disappeared. I also got a cold 2 weeks post-op and just rode it out - it wasn't too bad though.
Hi April...... have you called the bariatric unit where you had your surgery regarding the amount of pain you are in?????? I don't want to scare you but I also had excrutiating pain the next day I returned home and also thought that it was gas and ended up in emergency. The drs went back in and found a litre of old blood and blood clots in my abdomen. My surgery date was Dec 21 and had my second surgery on Dec 24 to remove the fluid. Be careful.

Hey April...
I had really excruciating gas pain....for weeks. I thought I was going to die. I had virtually no pain in the beginning from the incisions, but the gas pain was intolerable. I walked thousands of miles and was on my feet for hours and hours on end which did little to nothing to help aleviate it either. The only things that did help bit were exactly what Magpie said; ho****er bottle (pressed firmly down on my tummy) and hot tea.
Then suddenly, sometime in week 3, I was fine. No gas, virtually no pain and felt awesome (physically). Aspen (the APN in Ottawa) said somethimes it just takes a while to reabsorb into the body.
NOT that you shouldnt get it checked if you are really worried, but you may also be making it worse by stressing out so much.
Sorry to hear about the cold. NeoCitran makes a sugar free hot liquidy type drink that has no NSAIDS, but I agree with Monica. Talk to the pharmacist....emergency at a clinic is a waste of time.

Thanks very much Sirene. I remember you said it took you weeks...I am just wondering if the Gas-X is going to work at all because I have been taking it for 3 or 4 days now and just a wee toot here and there. I am definitely going to try the ho****er thing on the tummy.
I am not worried about the pain anymore being anything other than gas. I can just tell this is what it is, so no stress just peeved off that I can't toot lol.
Thanks for the info on the Neo Citron. Still waiting for the nurse to call me back and then I will go from there. The cold doesn't actually seem to bad right now, but I am presuming like any illness it will pick up again right at bedtime.
