Has anyone looked into a Nutribullet?

I was pretty impressed by the infomercial for this product.  It's a supercharged Magic Bullet, but its purpose is to completely pulverize what you put into it in order to release all the micronutrients that are in the skins, stems and seeds,  thus allowing your body the opportunity to absorb the nutrients that get missed through our own chewing and digestion process.  Kind of like juicing except that the pulp is pulverized and ingested, rather than thrown out.

I figured that with our malabsorbtion issues and designer insides, an extra boost of nutrients wouldn't be unwelcome, so I bought one at Canadian Tire ($99, same price as in Target).  I have had 2 Nutriblasts so far, comprised of a combination of a handful of spinach, blueberries, peach, piece of banana, raspberries, tablespoon of flax seed and 6 almonds, and a splash of oj.  Whatever fruits/vegs you like or have on hand - have to experiment to find what tastes good to you.  I must say that it all got mushed down to a smoothie consistency, with just the tiniest big of grit on the tongue from the flax.  Other than that, it's as smooth as can be.  Tastes pretty good, too!

Don't know if it's doing me any good, but it certainly can't be doing me any harm.  Its only been 2 days, but I think I'll keep it up!  What do you think?

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

I may be off the mark here, but wouldn't you be consuming way more calories than normal since you are drinking your calories and it won't keep you full.

Thanks Megan for an infomercial on the Nutribullet.  I hadn`t heard of this product before.

Sounds interesting.

I LOVE my regular magic bullet. It's took a beating and still works after 6+ years and has been used through hubby's surgery as well....

The nutribullet sounds interesting but I guess it's more for the juice crowd then.  I prefer to eat my fruit and veggies so I probably would not find it useful..but I guess juicers might like one.

Oh I forgot to mention you lose the fibre when you juice, so be sure to eat some fruits and veggies sometimes as well.

The beauty of this thing is that there is no loss of fibre.  Everything you put in the machine gets pulverized into a drink - that's what makes it different from a juicer.  I'm not worried about the calories, though, because it's vegetables (spinach, cucumber, carrot, whatever you like) and fruit (I put in 1/4 banana, 1/2 peach, about 10 raspberries and 2T blueberries).

The thing that interests me the most is that it breaks down the micronutrients in the skins, stems & seeds into a form that our bodies are supposed to be able to absorb - apparently chewing and regular digestion isn't enough to pull out these nutrients.

Anyway, I'm not an expert, and we each like our own things, but I'm trying it and time will tell if it makes a difference.  Will report back later - perhaps I'll turn into Superwoman!! (but without the spandex!)

It sounds interesting Megan!  I just added up the carbs from fruit and it came to 15, so not so bad, but maybe you could consider adding a little protein powder to give it an extra punch!

Let us know how it goes!

I'm going to add a dollop of greek yogurt tomorrow to see what I get!  That'll up the protein some.  I onlyl have chocolate protein powder, and somehow chocolate and spinach together sounds gross.  LOL!

it sounds like a great idea to me....I've kind of wondered, myself, how great it is that it appears some people don't eat many fruits and veggies (due to difficulty digesting and/or no room after proteins, etc)....so this thing sounds like it would be a really great option!

I know people who have used it while undergoing cancer treatment to help them get nutrients in.
