Sleep Study?
Sleep studies aren't that bad. At least you're getting yours done well in advance rather than getting through almost everything and then the bariatric medical internist orders one before you can schedule your surgery. I suggest going into it as tired as possible :)

No, not everyone needs a sleep study. It will depend on how you answer some of the questions on the big questionnaire that you filled out and how the medical personnel have interpreted that to say that you need to have it checked out.
I was already using a CPAP machine and continued to use it so I didn`t need to get retested.

I think it depends on the Centre, I know I went for one. I don't sleep through the night, but I have a snoring husband, snoring 8 year old (who gets nightmares) and a 4 year old. (And did this 2 years ago). That's why I don't sleep through the night most nights. I did the test and was on my back the whole time (which tells them the most) and passed with flying colours, told them I don't have sleep apnea.
With being in Pembroke, are you going to the Renfrew Lab? If it's anything like the one at the Civic, once you have your initial appointment, you can call and get on a cancelation list to go through faster. I got the letter for the appointment and was tested a couple days later due to the cancelation list.
It's not hard to do, but nicer to do and get it done.

I had one years ago. Kept asking for another as I slept wonderfully there...
I sort of asked someone why some do an some don't. Interestingly they said once your neck measures a certain size you are more likely to have it but neck measurement was only one of a handful of contributing factors. Snoring, quality of rest you get, etc. right?
Sleep studies are the least invasive test I can think of. Better than a compression mammogram. Just saying!
I have strong apnea so I have had many sleep studies including a recent one before they would give me the okay to get my surgery. When i was there I met someone from nothing clinic who said they had the study ordered by doctors, and he hasn't had any problem sleeping whatsoever.
I guess it's could be a neurologic sleep check or just to rule out any problems. Some apnea is also so slight that people don't even know they have a problem for decades.
Hope your study goes well. :)
