Hi everyone. I finally heard something from Ohip.My family MD called and said OHIP required some additional info, which she has sent to them. I hope this is a move in the right direction...have any of you experienced this? I am happy to hear something is in the works ,but nervous that this may be a problem with approval. My BMI is 53 and have Intercranial hypertension, so I think I fit into the criteria....any insight would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Heather..they did the same to me. They wanted additional information also. What they wanted was my height and weight (even though I already told them in my letter) and one of the sections in the form was filled out, when it shouldnt have been. I am pretty sure this is standard procedure with them. Dont worry.....I am sure it will be fine. LeeAnne

Your doctor did not fill something out on the form or was not specific enough about tissue damage. It will just make it take a little longer. Don't stress at all about your approval. You WILL get approved. I was at a bmi of 51 and no documented comorbidities. Dawn http://home.cogeco.ca/~diminishingdawn 288/148/140

Yeah, happened to me too. It's not an outright refusal, so don't worry. You BMI is high enough to warrant the surgery. It'll just take some extra time for your approval. Small bump in the road. That's all.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. As others have said, it's probably something to do with how the form was filled out. I think your BMI qualifies you, even without the co-morbidity. My BMI was 42, and I was approved SherryB

Hi Heather The same thing happened with me. Ohip contact my doctor requesting more info. She wrote them a nice handwritten letter that somehow took two weeks to get back into their hands, and then another two weeks for them to give me their final approval (which I received just today). It was frustrating, especially when you see everyone else getting the approval around you, but as everyone here on the board continued to tell me, I will also tell you, hang in there, it will come, and when it does you will feel like you have just lost a whole s..t load of weight as it gets lifted off your shoulders. Keep your chin up. Shelley

Hello lovely heather; I had OHIP asking for more speficic info from my doctor as well. He filled out a whole new set of papers, faxed it off and I received my approval in about a week and a half... other people have heardback even faster so please don't get discouraged... you hang in there, heather... It'll happen... Connie

This has been common in recent months, nothing to worry about, I'm sure you'll have your approval in no time
