So sorry about to hear about your loss of Jessie, I am not looking forward to that loss and by whatever miracle, my Dillinger is still here and doing, well, I wish you peace at this time and hope you find it in the love you gave and received.
. . . and you look amazing!
Take care, Laureen
My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

One of these days I hope to get to your cooking class too!

Both my husband and I used to be constables. I am from Pittsburgh, PA. My husband is the training sergeant at Allegheny County Jail training new incoming cadets in addition to yearly updates. Right now he is extremely busy training many law enforcement agencies for the upcoming G20 convention.
For me, the clincher to proceed was looking at the before/after photos. I'm stunned by the transformations. Still a bit worried that I'll struggle with foods - insert picky eater here - but I NEED to do this.
The last two years have been exceptionally tough for me and my family. Things have finally settled down. Now it's time to get a bit selfish, and take care of me. It's great having a place to come where people really do understand.
On the personal side, married, one daughter together (20) and 3 stepchildren. Also have 3 grandchildren (we have custody of 2 .... loooong story), and a GREAT grandaughter age 18 months. Yes, the little one lives here ......... didn't get custody soon enough
I'm a HUGE Springsteen fan ......... wish I could explain that feeling during a live show. I guess you either get it or you don't. Anyway, we travel during tours and I'm guessing I've seen him 60-70 times over the last 10 years.
And the journey begins!
Jayne here (need to figure out how to load my picture). I'll be 50 in August!!!
Hubby Tim and I live in the Pocono's. I had my surgery at St. Clare's in Dover NJ under the care of Dr. Alexander Abkin. My highest weight was 296... I was on various meds for type II diabetes (including insulin, avandia, metformin, and amaryl), choloesterol meds and HBP meds and synthtroid. I'm only taking the metformin and synthroid now.
Tim and I have been married for 7 years (first time for both of us). We have 2 crazy cats (Jimmy and Goldie)and 4 ex racing greyhounds. (Tessa, Bert, Tania and Bacchus). We don't have any human kids. I try to garden, but I don't have very green thumbs. I love to sew and do craft; however, I haven't had that much time lately.
Tim just finished his radiation for prostate cancer...needless to say, it's been a little stressful for us.
During pre op, I was asked when I became obese? I simply showed a pictures of me at ages 2, 3, and 4......fast forward to today.
I commute to NJ everyday... and struggle with eating in the car. I'm looking forward to the discussion group that begins on Monday (Beck Solution.)
I'm down from a size 4X to a size 16/18. Haven't worn a size 16 since junior high school! I'm still in the losing phase. My progress is slower than most as I was on insulin for many years pre op.
I've also enjoyed the start of many friendships because of OH!
my email is [email protected]..... and if you find yourself headed to outlets in Tannersvill PA, let me know -- we live about 5 minutes away!
(Before I get started...Pam, I love your new picture! You look fabulous!)
Ok,
I'm Pat and I live on the other side of PA! My husband, Bruno, and I live in the Pittsburgh area and we've been married 13 years now. In 2002 we traveled to China to adopt our beautiful daughter, Leslie (now 8). She is an absolute dream!
I have been overweight for my whole life. I'm 41 now, but I can remember being tortured with nasty name calling all through school. Having no confidence what-so-ever, I've pretty much become the family/class comedian. I figure that if I'm laughing at myself, maybe I won't notice others laughing too! All this is changing!!!!!
Last year, I started a new job as the Preschool Director at my church. This meant not only more money, but now a tiny little commute (4 minutes?? :-) and a much more rewarding position. I love it! I was so excited to go out and purchase all kinds of "professional" clothes. Now, they are falling off of me! In November 2008, a good friend from Eastern PA shared with me her experience & pictures of her journey through WLS. I'd briefly considered the thought before, but talking to my friend really inspired me to take action!
I'm scheduled for surgery on July 20th at St. Margarets Hospital with Dr. Quinlin! During the course of my pre-surgery months, I've joined a gym & really started being committed to a healthier lifestyle. I think my plan was to be as healthy as I'm able to ensure a successful surgery. Also, I figured the more exercise I do now, maybe I can reduce some of the saggy skin later...though I don't know if that's avoidable when you lose the weight we do after WLS. I've lost around 55/57 lbs pre-op and am so excited to finally be gearing up for the surgery. In November, I weighed in at 280 wearing a size 26 but I know that I've been heavier! (My scale had cob-webs on it because I'd have sooner ate my husbands stinky socks then stand on that wretched thing!)
My husband has been very supportive of my decisions thus far and has done everything I could possibly ask to help me! He's been a really blessing. We've had a pretty rocky time of it for many years and I'm hoping that the future holds better times. We shall see.
The PA - OH board has been extremely helpful & supportive. No fear of getting "flamed" or criticized for feeling down or making mistakes...only friends that reach out to help! I only wish I could meet you Easterners someday soon! I'd love to join in on Liz's cooking class! Hopefully our newly started Pgh group will be just as awesome! Thanks to all of you for your continued friendship!
Pat
Hi Everyone!
My name in Loree and I will be turning 37 in September. My hubby is Craig and he is 32. We both had surgery on 12/22/08 with Dr. Trang at Einsteins. As of our 6 month visit I am down to 193, from my highest weight of 272. Craig is down to 260 from his highest of 373. We are both excited and very happy with our decision to have the surgery. I had diabetes and PCOS. I got the news this weeks that my A1C is low enough now that I am off my meds. Craig had high blood pressure and is now off his meds as well.
Craig and I met on-line in a wrestling chat room about 10 years ago. I am from Jacksonville, Florida and he was from Philly. We talked on-line for a year, then met and started dating and was engaged for about a year. We got married in Florida and I moved here, 7 years ago next month. With the help of fertility treatments, even though we had 3 losses we are now happy parents. I have a son Craig III who is 4 (3/1/05) and boy/girl twins Zachary and Wren that will turn 3 on Sept 6th. They are our inspiration, to continue to lose the weight and have a healthy lifestyle.
I am a stay at home mom but in Jacksonville I worked for the city for 12 years. I am now going to school full time, mostly at night, to become a teacher. We both love hockey and football. He of course is an Eagles fan and I am a Jaguar fan, and I also am a die hard Florida Gator fan. I love to cook and one day I hope to attend the cooking class, if I can ever get a sitter.
That's us in a nut shell! I enjoy posting on the board and getting great ideas for dishes (thanks Liz!).
