I was just curious what everyone tried first when they started regular foods? I am going to be moving to regular foods next week and I was curious what was everyones first choice in what they wanted to try. Plus, I am on soft foods starting tomorrow and was curious what is good that is soft besides eggs and cottage cheese and things that we could already have in puree...is there anything different? Any suggestions would be great!

I don't exactly remember what foods are categorized in which stage. It has been a long time. But foods I remember eating in the beginning are:

Eggs....scrambled, boiled, whatever
Tuna
Chicken....but only dark meat in the beginning and chewing it ALOT
ground beef
ground turkey
meatballs
I melted cheese on alot of things, but could quite handle eating chunks of cheese yet.

Also tried some lunch meats. Ham seemed to work best in the beginning.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I am hoping to try some of these purees (see the site below) once I am post op and ready for purees (my surgery is monday). There seem to be some interesting choices.
(not the thickeners -  just the purees)

they are available for purchase at walgreens online
NOTE- I have not tested any of them yet ..

Real food wise... steak cooked medium... and chicken on the bone with skin on baked in the oven (i removed the skin etc when it came time to eat it but the skin and bone kept it moist)

Soft food... mini ravioli out of a can... just 2 or 3... oh it was heaven lol... a whole can of those would last a week...

I was a Gerber kid for my 1st 2 weeks of soft food. Many of their products are super soft, free of additives, salt and artifical flavors. Also, I added light cheese as well.
