Hi everyone, I wasn't sure if there was a specific forum for newbies, so I thought picking my home state would be a good place to introduce myself.

How is everyone? I live in a little town in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, I'm working hard to finish my masters degree by next spring and oh yeah, looking to have wls too. I think of myself as a typical 20-something except for the fact that I'm obese. I love my friends, family and dog. I love to travel and read and I love music.

Anything you wanna know, just ask!

Welcome Stacy,

This forum is a great way to meet people, get information and ask questions about WLS. I had RNY on 6-3-09 and I am doing well. Make sure you do ALOT of research online and other resources before you make any decisions. It took me several years to finally make the decision to have WLS. I researched several different facilities and decided that the Barix Clinic in Langhorne was the best place for me. I like the fact that WLS is ALL they do and they have done thousands of patients from all over. We also have support group meetings once a month at the clinic. Dr. Pupkova was my surgeon and she was great! She even hugs you everytime she sees you. How many doctors do that ?

Anyway, good luck to you in your journey. Ask lots of questions, get information, and be healthy.

Hello!!  I am in Butler.. not too far away!  Welcome and research, research, research!!!  You can never have too much information before making your decision!  There are several different surgeries out there...personally, rny was the one for me... but everyone is different.   There are risks, before, during and after surgery... but again.. personally.. I think they are well worth the benefits!!  I have had one particularly bad complication after surgery..fixed now, thank heavens, but I would still do it all again!!!!!
This board is wonderful.. you will find information, support, recipies..  just about anything you need, right here!!

Oh, BTW.. I also love to read!!!  I read several books a month.. can't live without one near me!!

Congratulations on chosing one of the best darn support boards on OH!

Welcome and come back often and ask any questions you might have, someone is sure to know the answer or point you in the direction of where to find it!  We genuinely care about one another on here.  Sounds like you got a lot of "successing" going on already and someday soon, obese will be a word from your past. . .

Best wishes on your journey towards healthy living!  Laureen

Hi and Welcome to the BEST board on OH.

I am outside of Philly, and go through Pittsburgh a few times a year.  My son lives there and I travel through there on my way to Michigan to see my daughter and granddaughter.  I will be there some time Thursday afternoon.

You will make loads of great friends here, and get lots of info on the best care and support in your part of the state.  Jump in and ask questions and research.

Hugs,
trish
