Geoff don't take this as written in stone but someone told me that decaf coffee is not considered part of your required fluids that you have to double what you drank in coffee in fluids but don't hold me to it. Somewhere in the back of my poor feeble mind I think I heard this as I muddled thru my journey.  More or less plodded thru. Keep in mind that your body is still in the healing mode and as far as the coffee limit that could be true I didn't drink coffee decaf or otherwise for 6 months after surgery needless to say I was a real hag! A person and their coffee its a beautiful thing.

Hi Linda,

I actually heard that the day before last.  What I heard is if you have for ex. 8 oz of regular coffee, than  you need and extra 16 oz of flluid to make up for it.

Decaf is a non-issue.

I did have a cup of coffee this morning 1/2 reg and 1/2 decaf so I am planning to make up for it with some extra fuids today.

I appreciate the input Linda,

Thanks buddy.

Geoff - you might want to check with your surgeon - we were told (The Barix babies) NO caffeine for the at least the first 6 months - you just can't get in enough fluids to compensate and there is the risk of dehydration - I know that surgeons opinions differ greatly though!

Liz thanks.

I did talk to surgeon's office today.  They took more bloodwork since I am still so tired.  They put me on an iron pill today.  I just took that and my weekly b12, so hopefully that will help.

My hemoglobin is still at 11 which is ok.  They are waiting for the iron profile to come back.

Thanks again.

Hi again,

As far as the caffeine, my nutrionist did say out of all the liquids two of them could be caffeniated.  I see her on Thursday at the support group and will double check.

Thanks again.

Thanks Liz for confirming I am sane. Yup I was told six months and if I drank decaf to make up for it and believe me I know coffee is a tough habit to break because I am one of those than love it so I had to grit my teeth and deal with it. The first week without it no one would come near me I was a real hag!  Not kidding we all have our routines so it was a hard habit to break.  Up there with smoking which I haven't done in 30 years this from a 2 pack a day methol smoker ugh!
