I am so sad
Ena, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I lost my brother in 2000. He had also been a lifetime smoker, and died of complications following a heart valve repair. The smoking was not the direct reason, but it affected his recovery severely.
Be sure to allow yourself to feel your own feelings. You deserve to do that. It is important that you do.

Ena,
Expressing sorrow over such a personal loss is not a rant. I am sorry that your brother has died, I hope he didn't suffer. Yes it was very kind of your friend to stay with him. No one should have to die alone. Please take care of yourself and if you need to cry. let it out. It isn't healthy to suppress such emotions. I wish you the best as you strive toward health, and peace as you mourn the loss of part of your family.

So sorry for your loss. Hiding your emotions may back fire later. I held it in when my daughter passed. One year later, on the anniversary of her death, it hit me like it just happened all over again. Allow yourself to go thru the phases of bereavement, your family members need to be there for you as well, if they are not part of your closure process, it may lead them to believe your cold or so strong you don't need them. Let them in and heal together.
